The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) is a global, nonprofit organization based in Washington, D.C., working to improve environmental sustainability, human health, and resilience in the built environment through its programs and rating systems including LEED. USGBC seeks a passionate and skilled individual to join our team to increase engagement with communities and key target sectors in the green building industry in the South Central region with an initial focus on the markets of Texas and Oklahoma. The objective of the position is to grow the community of practice and influence in the region. As a key member of the regional staff, you will have primary responsibility for program planning logistics, communications, volunteer management, member engagement, and sponsor recruitment to establish and grow our impact in the region and beyond. The manager is responsible for stakeholder engagement, implementation of market development campaigns, client engagement and growth in the local market and community. Manager is the face of the organization in these local markets and manages relationships with members, stakeholders and partners. As the Market Manager for Texas and Oklahoma, you will be working as part of a dynamic and ambitious U.S. Market Transformation & Development team throughout the United States. We are looking for a self-starter with skills in communications, market development, event planning and volunteer engagement who is eager to advance sustainable, healthy, resilient, and equitable buildings and communities. Specific Responsibilities: Engage with volunteers, members, partners, and other constituents to increase utilization of LEED, TRUE, Arc, and other USGBC/GBCI products among priority sectors. Participate in market development campaigns and grow client engagement in the region. Plan and implement annual profitable community budget(s), including revenue and expenses for community programs, events, and other key areas. Budget will include, but is not limited to sponsorship, membership, event registration, grants, and responsible expense management. Collaborate with the volunteer leadership and serve as co-chair/staff lead of Market Leadership Advisory Board (MLAB) and other committees as needed, including those of partner organizations. Manage organizational and individual membership recruitment and community engagement. Develop and implement events and initiatives to grow local sponsorship, member engagement, and partnership. Promote LEED offerings through existing and new relationships in the building sector and develop relationships with firms and members to establish new business opportunities. Grow and establish relationships with local partner organizations and key allies in targeted sectors. Support relationship and programming with industry partners in the South Central region. Manage and generate website, newsletter, and social media content related to local membership, and market development updates on USGBC programs/GBCI products. Set, manage and report on annual performance goals related to events, campaigns, and programs to grow membership, partnership, project registration, and other key metrics Education & Experience Requirements: Bachelor's degree required 5 years of relevant professional experience Experience with in-person, virtual and hybrid event program planning and management LEED Green Associate or LEED AP with specialty, preferred Public/Private/Non-Profit development experience and/or sales experience successfully originating new business preferably in sustainability and commercial real estate Demonstrated ability to work closely and communicate effectively with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders Strong interpersonal skills including empathy and respect for others, engaging in active listening, and building effective working relationships Self-starter, detail-oriented, organized, and able to prioritize Other Preferred Qualifications: Driver's License, ability, and willingness to drive throughout the specified territory, preferred Willingness to travel as needed throughout the specified region, and occasionally outside of the region, to meet with customers and prospects, and attend events Commitment to USGBC mission and values Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends Employee Supervision: This role has no direct reports. Travel Requirements: Travel within Texas and Oklahoma monthly and other regions occasionally as needed.
