Technology Category Vice President - Global Sourcing & Procurement

Category Leaders report to the Chief Procurement Officer and will be a key member of the GS&PS leadership team leading the development, deployment and business partnership for the global source to pay functions within the GS&PS organization. This leader will partner and collaborate with the senior leaders in Finance and IT to ensure overall alignment, governance, and viability with the GS&PS strategy compliantly and within budget.
Ownership of Category strategy and possibly a team of category managers in partnership with business teams throughout AIG. This includes working with the teams to define and execute strategies in support of business priorities across a category's complete life cycle. This will require managing a preferred supplier base (managing new emerging and exiting legacy non-directional categories) along with assisting and driving standards of excellence where warranted. The lead will build cross functional teams to address key contract renewals, aligned with Category metrics to determine opportunities to improve value, maintain service while driving time frames aligned with various businesses and support groups. Key leadership traits required include the ability to influence and form strong partnerships with business leaders, and operational excellence in managing multiple complex priorities simultaneously. The Category Director is an expert practitioner in the tools for creating competitive environments and has a strong bias for decision-making rooted in Sourcing, data and analytics. A category director will be an AIG or Industry expert in Technology, Services or related support. Responsibilities: - Own all aspects of category strategy and its execution for Software, Hardware, Network, Telecom and VARS as well as Professional Services and Indirect - Real Estate, Business Services, HR Services, Travel, non-employee management, etc. in support of comprehensive cost reduction opportunities, value proposition, quality of service, customer experience and innovation across all AIG businesses.
- Deploy strategy across individual business units and regions through collaboration, building trust and providing data driven solutions.
- Establish strong relationships with key business partners, internal customers, and stakeholders to drive alignment to organizational and project related goals and objectives.
- Maintain a robust project pipeline to drive 8% deflation or spend reduction year over year. 10% stretch target.
- Own data analytics and process optimization within assigned categories.
- Stratify suppliers in base to develop and maintain an approved supplier list for each product family.
- Rationalize the supply base by 30% year over year until entitlement is achieved.
- Benchmark contract coverage. Once baseline is established, target >80% contract coverage.
- Own vendor management for key suppliers in category. Hold QBR's for top suppliers in category. Evaluate supplier core competencies and competitive positioning using industry cost models and bench-marking analysis.
- Partner closely with internal customers and peers to understand the needs of the business and incorporate into plans.
- Support supplier diversity and sustainability initiatives by selecting diverse and environmentally conscious supplier for RFX's.
- Support horizontal initiatives for tool deployment, process optimization, elimination of spend through non-supported buying channels and "unclassified" or rogue spend within assigned category.
- Conduct market analyses, competitive bids, cost modelling and benchmarking to demonstrate fair and reasonable pricing on new placements.
- Lead direct team members in support of strategy. Provide coaching, development, and growth opportunities to strengthen the bench across the organization.
- Work with finance and business leaders to identify total cost of ownership opportunities and validate project savings.
- Perform robust market analyses and benchmarking exercises to ensure prices paid are fair and reasonable.
- Provide guidance to internal stakeholders on procurement strategies and maintain procurement ethics in accordance with AIG's global policies.
- Deliver on Transformation and Continuous Improvement vision and objectives.
- Own IPO and contract separation initiatives for all contracts and suppliers within assigned category.
Qualifications: - Deep category domain expertise with the ability to develop a strategy and execute to it.
- Data driven decision maker with strong influencing skills to align stakeholders and virtual team members to project outcomes.
- Proponent and driver of Change Management within all levels of AIG. Ability to solicit inputs and incorporate feedback to strengthen our programs.
- Strong project management skills focused on customer experience.
- Lean/Six Sigma experience.
- BA/BS degree in business, IT, engineering, or supply chain required; graduate degree preferred.
- 20+ years' professional experience in a global, highly-matrixed organization.
- Serve as a role model by demonstrating a commitment to AIG's values, high performance standards, workplace diversity and driving results.
- Strong analytical skills including the ability to quickly synthesize distill and draw conclusions on large amounts of disparate data.
- Ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects requiring frequent communication, organization, time management, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong ability to influence others with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong presentation skills with the ability to explain supply & demand levers and complex pricing & evaluation models.
- Excellent relationship management skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with senior management.
- 15+ years of experience leading and managing indirect categories including, but not limited to: Professional Services, Corporate Services, and Technology.
- Network, Telecom, Support, IT & Engineering background a plus.
- 7+ years of experience practicing best-in-class procurement or operation processes (category management, bench-marking, TCO (cost models), RFX, reverse auction, contracting, etc.).
