Position Summary: EVgo is seeking a project-oriented engineering director with commercial system design and construction background to design and develop fast charging infrastructure projects. The Director of Development Engineering is responsible for driving continuous improvements to the infrastructure engineering design and deployment leading to reliable, customer friendly, and cost-efficient charging stations. The individual will manage and lead infrastructure design associated with EVGo's public network. The individual will work closely with cross-functional teams, including Site Development, Project Management, Supply Chain, Deployment, and others to ensure the charging infrastructure meets development requirements and exceeds customer expectations while achieving internal goals. The individual will also be responsible for managing internal and external resources to produce engineering deliverables and development support which ensures projects are optimally designed for constructability and safe operation.
Responsibilities: - Manage infrastructure design for EVGo's public network.
- Lead initiatives associated with design standardization, cost reduction, and project/product safety.
- Develop, maintain, and drive continuous enhancements within the development engineering team by implementing best practices meeting business needs.
- Produce high level scope of work and track project deadlines and deliverables for various initiatives driving standardization and efficiency within the organization.
- Facilitate regular coordination needed for cross functional engagement on initiatives associated with standardization and efficiency through engineering and construction practices.
- Lead and manage documentation and release processes associated with standardization and other initiatives.
- Perform detailed analysis on justification and business need for various initiatives driving standardization and consistency through engineering and cost reduction initiatives.
- Define and maintain project development metrics to monitor throughput, cost, and quality of the project development pipeline.
- Collaborate with Site Development, Grid Integration, and external engineering consultants to ensure product specification meets utility and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with regional site development and project management team to ensure project intake funnel meets or exceeds its intended operational target to achieve EVGo's overall charger deployment goal.
- Lead and monitor contractor's quality on engineering deliverables and provide quarterly performance reports to EVgo management.
- Participate in the review process for new technology evaluations for integration into current or future projects.
Required Skills/Experience:
- BS/ MS in Engineering, Electrical Engineering preferred, PE preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years experience in engineering, consulting, and construction, and energy industry.
- Minimum 5 years of engineering supervising experience.
- Self-driven and capable of operating with minimum supervision.
- Strong problem solving and data analytics skillset managing multiple projects and portfolio.
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to EV charging.
- Understanding of distribution network and utility/AHJ requirements.
- Working knowledge of Salesforce or enterprise CRM systems.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal communication, negotiation, and management skills.
The estimated salary range for this position is $175,000 USD to $185,000 USD. Actual salary may vary depending on job-related factors, including knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
