Northrop Grumman Mission Systems Sector is seeking an EHS Professional to join our Environmental, Health, Safety, and Fire Protection team at the
Buffalo, New York site. The selected applicant will be responsible for successfully implementing certain occupational health and environmental programs and supporting safety programs at Buffalo. The selected applicant will be performing job duties with general direction and supervision and to provide technical solutions to complex problems based on sound industrial hygiene principles with excellent time management and organizational skills. Excellent risk communication and collaboration skills with all level of an organization.
Key roles and responsibilities include:- Maintains occupational health programs to ensure compliance, injury prevention, and risk mitigation.
- Oversees the following occupational health programs: Lockout/tagout, hazard communication, and non-ionizing radiation (radiofrequency).
- Conducts qualitative and quantitative hazard assessments to include exposure monitoring for physical and chemical agents.
- Creates and updates Job Hazards Analyses.
- Completes industrial and office ergonomic evaluations to reduce risk factors that cause musculoskeletal disorders.
- Develops, implements, and maintains EHS programs for multiple office buildings to ensure compliance, injury prevention, and risk mitigation.
- Conducts internal compliance inspections and identifies actions necessary to meet regulatory requirements.
- Reviews and interprets existing and proposed environmental, health, and safety (EHS) regulations to determine applicability and impact for sites.
- Partners with engineers, scientists, and management to support the integration of EHS into the design of new or altered processes and operations and building construction projects.
- Works to continuously improve the culture, awareness and accountability of EHS programs.
- Interfaces with regulatory representatives, senior management, and site personnel.
Additional roles and responsibilities may include:- Provides timely and accurate submission of necessary reports to internal stakeholders, electronic databases, and regulatory agencies.
- Writes and updates EHS plans and procedures.
- Applies for new permits and renewals.
- Conducts incident investigations.
- Coordinates EHS training for employees and conducts instructor-led EHS training.
The position can be filled at a Level 2 or 3.Basic Qualifications for Level 2:- Bachelor's (BA or BS) degree and a minimum of 2 years of experience in industrial hygiene, environmental/occupational health or a related field, or a Master of Science (MS) in the same disciplines with relevant experience; or an Associate's degree and 4 years of relevant experience.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret clearance
- (U.S. Citizenship required).
Basic Qualifications for Level 3:- Bachelor's (BA or BS) degree and a minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial hygiene, environmental/occupational health or a related field, or a Master of Science (MS) in the same disciplines with 3 years of relevant experience; or an Associate's degree and 7 years of relevant experience.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret clearance
- (U.S. Citizenship required).
Preferred Qualifications:- BS degree in industrial hygiene, environmental health, occupational safety, or related field
- MS degree in an industrial hygiene, environmental health, occupational safety, or a related field, or currently enrolled in an MS degree program.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
- Experience with supporting EHS programs for semiconductor operations.
- Certifications in environmental or safety related programs, for example CHMM.
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point programs.
- Experience with Microsoft SharePoint and Tableau.
- Experience with chemistry and its application to personal protective equipment (PPE) selection, chemical processes and compatibilities.
- Experience as a Radiation Safety Officer (RSO).
- Experience in completing industrial hygiene assessments/sampling and assessing the health impact of physical and chemical agents.
- Experience with overseeing third party consultants/contractors.
Salary Range: $73,900.00 - $110,900.00Salary Range 2: $91,200.00 - $136,800.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
