Objective of the Job The Senior Director is responsible for leading the sales team to achieve revenue targets and drive business growth. This role involves developing and implementing sales strategies, managing key customer relationships, and overseeing the performance of the sales department. This includes managing the sales life cycle for customers in specific industry segments by identifying sales opportunities, implementing and executing solicitation, closing on customer contracts, maximizing profitability and delivering on customer service targets, programs and objectives. Duties and Responsibilities Develops, communicates, and leads market specific product and customer strategies for the division ensuring alignment with enterprise. This position is focused on providing technical support to our manufacturing plants, development of new steel grades and coatings, as well as qualification of these materials for our automotive customers. This individual will have the primary responsibility of preparing and testing specimens using metallographic sample prep and metallographic testing equipment that provide root cause analysis data, characterization data for steel grade development, as well as supporting the stage gate qualification testing process for customer approval of new products or process paths. This individual must demonstrate the ability to use continuous improvement methodologies via the World Class Organization (WCO) that benefit their core area of responsibility, as well as the entire organization. Additional tasks will include: routine maintenance of laboratory test equipment and support activities that improve the safety and quality program at Research. Above all, the individual is expected to be able perform all tasks safely in an industrial laboratory environment. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Following established quality and safety procedures. Support qualification testing of legacy grades and new grades. Operation of computer-controlled test equipment such as: scanning electron microscopes and optical microscopes. Operation of saws, shears, and metallographic polishing equipment. Knowledge/safe handling of acids, bases and solvents. Perform routine maintenance on lab equipment. Willingness to learn new skills to support other labs when needed. Use 5S lean methodologies to ensure a high standard of housekeeping is maintained.
