Summary of Position The Fine Woodworking department is a group of professional woodworkers whose mission is to develop students to think critically about design, their works' historical context, and the creation of well-crafted pieces. We teach traditional and modern woodworking technologies to best prepare our students for professional enterprises in the field. We have a very culturally diverse student population whose woodworking interests vary.
Part-time Instructors provide instructional duties for the College in their respective areas of expertise. They report to the department chair within the discipline and do not have any supervisory responsibilities. Responsibilities include instruction, student assessment, and other related instructional duties. Instructional delivery may include face-to-face, hybrid, and online. Classes may be held days, evenings, and weekends.
The instructor must be patient and respectful, while also providing their expectations for what is considered acceptable work. The instructor must display dedication to the class as well as the goals of the program.
This position reports to the department chair within the discipline and does not supervise other employees. Occasional meetings or trainings may also be scheduled outside of regular work hours. The finalist must be willing to make Colorado their primary workplace, including for online classes.
This post will be used to fill the following courses: Introduction to Woodworking, and other courses within the FIW department.

- Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to teach students using traditional and alternative methods of instruction.
- Demonstrated ability to integrate technology into the classroom.
- Demonstrated leadership experience and skills
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma and a minimum of 2000 hours of work/training in fine woodworking within the last seven (7) years
- Ability to obtain the appropriate CTE credentials
- Professional woodworking experience that demonstrates expertise in the following:
- Understanding how wood works and behaves
- Preparation and use of hand tools
- Creating and interpreting shop drawings or blueprints
- Knowledge of joinery and wood finishing
- The preparation, set up and safe operation of woodworking machines and teaching experience in fine woodworking.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Baccalaureate or master's degree in fine Woodworking or related field from an academic institution accredited in the United States
- Five years of professional woodworking or furniture design/lutherie experience
- Three years in teaching and academic leadership role in a community college or similar academic setting
- A strong commitment to effective teaching at the community college and an understanding of its philosophy, role and mission
- Experience in program and curriculum development
- Experience teaching with technology, in alternative formats
- Experience working in diverse communities and supporting the success of individuals from racial, ethnic, and gender backgrounds that are underrepresented.

Advertised Hourly PayThe pay for this position is $1,620.04.00 - $1,810.50 per credit hour, commensurate with education and experience. This is a part-time, FLSA exempt position and may work up to 28 hours per week, depending on budget and need. This position has been exempted from the State Classified System.

Medical insurance is offered to instructors and other variable hour employees who have worked, on average, at least 30 hours per week in a 12-month period. RRCC/CCCS uses an initial 12-month measurement period to determine medical benefit eligibility, and a 12-month standard measurement period. Student employees are limited to working no more than 20 hours a week when classes are in session, and may work up to 28 hours a week, during academic breaks or breaks between terms at the discretion of the college, and non-classified hourly and temporary staff are limited to 28 hours in a workweek, depending on budget and need. Sick leave is granted in accordance with , accrued at one hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked, up to a maximum of 48 hours per year.
Instructors and non-student hourly are required to contribute to at a fixed percentage of their salary and do not contribute to Social Security.
