What We Need YOU To Do: The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency wants you to be our newest environmental manager in the Division of Environmental and Financial Assistance (DEFA), working at our central office in Columbus, Ohio.

As an environmental manager at Ohio EPA, you'll be planning and managing all activities within the loans and grants section of DEFA, developing policies, criteria, and standards for the administrative review process of the division's assistance programs. You'll develop policies and guidance for new and revised regulations for the loan award process, as well as coordinating the development of loan and grant award processes for the section, the Ohio Water Development Authority, and other government agencies.
You'll be in charge of the implementation of program standards and policies, including assignment and review of work allocation, employee performance reviews, and preparation of professional development plans for section staff. You'll oversee the design and implementation of staff training in technical and administrative policies for the programs, providing administrative and programmatic knowledge support to staff for review of complex grant and loan applications.
Additionally, you'll be overseeing the loan and grant section's program and project outcomes, ensuring they're accurate and complete. You'll supervise the preparation of the section's periodic resource analyses and annual work plan, which includes goals, objectives, and output projections. You'll also represent the agency in conferences, seminars, hearings, and public meetings, as well as providing assistance to the public on programmatic requirements.

Qualifications - 6 yrs. trg. or 6 yrs. exp. in position involving engineering or chemistry, physics, biology &/or comparable science field &/or mathematics &/or history &/or archaeology which included responsibility for developing, coordinating & implementing programs for specific environmental area (e.g., air pollution; water pollution; solid/hazardous waste planning; AND ecological impact assessment; water quality monitoring & assessment; ground water or laboratory services); AND 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. as lead worker or supervisor or in administrative capacity. Note: Training &/or experience must correspond to environmental area to be assigned. Positions in Environmental Protection Agency's solid waste program, excluding positions in solid waste planning unit, also require valid Ohio certificate of registration as sanitarian or valid Ohio certificate as sanitarian-in-training.
