The Logistics Specialist is responsible for managing logistics activities in a manner that shall meet business fulfillment requirements in parallel with the goal of transportation cost reduction. The position is responsible for working with client’s head office and collecting and communicating all necessary information related to upcoming and ongoing shipments, projects, and services, as well as providing logistics support, consulting, shipment processing and obtaining best possible transportation rates. Location: Houston, TX 77073 Work Schedule: 40 hours, Monday-Friday (Some weekend / after-hours support / on-call rotation required) Work Hours: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM OR 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM Compensation: $45,000-$55,000 Annually Physical Demands: Sitting, typing, and walking around a large warehouse Work Environment: Office Cubicle / Warehouse Drug-Free Workplace and Equal Opportunity Employer Medical, dental, vision, basic life (paid for by Allyn), voluntary life, STD (paid for by Allyn), LTD, 401k with Company Match, Paid Vacation, Paid Sick Time, Paid Holidays, tuition reimbursement and more Required Experience and Education: Bachelor’s or equivalent college degree – focus in Logistics preferred International logistics experience preferred: transportation, customs, warehousing, supply chain principles, geographical concerns, political nuances of economic zones Scheduling and critical path management experience preferred Ideal candidates will be able to: Use Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook Ability to multitask Flexibility Prioritization skills Integrity Written and verbal communication skills Decision making abilities Planning and organizational skills Data analysis skills Project management Relationship building skills Responsibilities: Responsible for coordinating shipments with the plant production for the assigned region’s air/ocean shipments Ensures freight is correctly scheduled onto trucks in a timely manner Expedites shipments and provide up to date information to involved parties for assigned region(s) Coordinate with plant order management, warehousing and packaging and the Houston based logistics control tower Issue resolution and shipment responsibility Research and subject matter expertise in the field of logistics and transportation Actively use either Allyn’s proprietary software or use the software chosen per the client Accurately issue shipping documentation such as certificate of origin, customs invoice, packing list and certificate of insurance Reliably track and expedite progress of specialized shipments, focusing on project cargo such as trucks movement for assigned region(s) Capture all costs associated with a shipment Actively look for savings opportunities and added value opportunities when possible Actively participate in team meetings, conference calls, and daily project management calls with Allyn team and with the client Eliminate or minimize risk exposure for Allyn and customers Maintain online tracking and metrics tools Track and resolve freight claims Provide excellent customer service to Allyn customers Identify and suggest opportunities for improvement or process changes where needed Cross train assigned backup(s) to provide coverage assistance as needed Our clients range from small local businesses to Fortune 500 firms in industry sectors such as power generation and renewable energy, road construction equipment, electronics, industrial materials, heavy duty trucks, mining and drilling equipment, oil and gas, modular building, medical equipment, not for profit, and US government.
