Duties & Responsibilities THE HUMAN FACTORS ENGINEER WILL: Understand human interfaces with complex systems. Experienced with Human Computer or Human Robotic Interfaces. Ability to assess human interfaces for usability, cognitive ease, and other important factors. Knowledge of best practices in human-centered design. Some software experience preferred. Perform other duties as required. Qualifications Typically requires a bachelor's degree in engineering and a minimum of 2 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Experience with software verification and validation processes. Experience with complex distributed systems. Experience with one or more of the following: Human performance. Human interface. Human error avoidance. Design for usability. Design for maintainability. Accident avoidance. Safety hazard avoidance. Risk mitigation. Environmental limits & controls. Experience with autonomous systems. Experience with mission and safety critical systems. Remote operations experience. Excellent communication, negotiation and coordination skills and strong customer service attitude. REQUISITION PREFERENCES: Spacecraft Avionics and Software Architecture experience. NASA software and systems development standards. Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency may be a requirement for this position.
