Job Posting Information Starting at $14.00 per hour; 5 to 29 hours per week during school year (mid-August to May). Days and time to be determined based on staff availability and need. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must be at least 18 years old. High school diploma/GED and the ability to pass a criminal history background check and at least 1500 verified experience in childcare/teaching experience or the willingness to obtain 45 hours of approved training within 6 months of hire. Desired Qualifications: CDA, Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education or a related field. Adult and Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: The Preschool Teacher will work collaboratively with the Preschool Director and fellow preschool staff in supporting children as they explore and make discoveries on hikes, in outdoor play spaces, and in the indoor classroom at Pioneers Park Nature Center and/or Calvert Recreation Center. The Lead Teacher is responsible for implementing curriculum plans and maintaining classroom routines while supervising and engaging with children in a caring and supportive way that facilitates discoveries and helps children meet developmental milestones. Teachers will provide feedback to the Preschool Director on children’s individual needs, interests, and progress; using this information to develop curriculum planning and document children’s learning and development. The Lead Teacher may spend up to two hours outdoors daily, in all weather conditions. Additional responsibilities include: Attending professional development trainings and classroom meetings Stepping in as a substitute when needed DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Appreciation for nature, children, and families. Promote awareness of our natural environment through animals, plants, and seasonal changes. 2. Assist the Preschool Director in the coordination and implementation of preschool programs and activities. Plan and carry out the activities, study units, maintain classroom routines and substituting if needed. Document children’s learning through observational notes and/or photos. Ensure that the preschool program is conducted in a friendly, warm, and clean environment. Emphasize discipline and safety of the preschool children. 3. Promote program and maintain a positive relationship with the parents. Encourage the preschool children and their families to develop good stewardship and conservation ethics. Establish and maintain effective working relations with coworkers. Build relationships with families and provide feedback in conferences and newsletters. 4.
