Senior Engineer-Relay Settings/System Protection Job Locations: US-FL-Lake Mary | US-TX-Plano | US-GA-Kennesaw | US-TN-Goodlettsville ID: 2024-2912 Category Substation Position Type Full-Time Overview ENERCON's Power Delivery group is seeking a Senior Engineer-Relay Settings/System Protection to join the team in Orlando, FL, Dallas, TX, Kennesaw, GA or Nashville, TN office. This position is also open to other ENERCON locations in the Mountain, Central and Eastern time zones, and possibly remote for the right candidate. Responsibilities Design, specify, calculate settings, and coordinate protective relays and relay control schemes. Develop and maintain logic schemes in protective relays and power system specific logic controllers. Develop protection schemes including transmission, distribution, generation, and renewable energy sources. Provide technical guidance to other engineers. Perform short-circuit analysis, time-current coordination, step-distance coordination, develop relay settings, prepare test plans, provide commissioning assistance, perform protection system event analysis and troubleshooting, and develop NERC PRC compliance materials. Ensure all relay settings activities, initiatives, and processes are in conformance with industry standards, the company's established policies and objectives, and with client standards. Confidently and comfortably present technical solutions to clients, respond in real time to technical concerns and answer questions in a knowledgeable, articulate manner. Collaborate with the appropriate groups and individuals to develop and implement technical solutions. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in electrical engineering from an ABET accredited university. Professional Engineering registration or plan to become registered within one year. A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience. Experience in power system protection and controls engineering and relay settings. Proven experience in system modeling and fault analysis software (ASPEN, CAPE, ETAP, or EasyPower), and Microsoft Software Applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, and Access). Experience with Mathcad is a plus. Strong knowledge of relay coordination studies, and development of associated protective relay settings for systems ranging from 12.47 kV to 345 kV is required. Experience with 500 kV and 765 kV systems is a plus. Experience applying protection system engineering practices and principles in the following areas: transmission line, bus, transformer, capacitor bank, reactor bank, feeder, generator, motor, and communication assisted protection schemes. Familiar with the application of NERC PRC standards for compliance. Must have strong analytical and computer skills. Strong communications and interpersonal skills; must effectively communicate with a wide variety of internal team members and clients. Highly motivated "self-starter" with a strong commitment to maintaining strong client relationships. Proven multitasking skills. Excellent document management and organizational skills. Experience with SCADA, communication systems, and network engineering a plus. Experience leading project teams a plus.
