Meaningful Work From Day One The Operations Team Member collaborates with a high-performing team to ensure daily equipment operation in distilling, processing, bottling, and coopering. With a zero-loss mindset, they focus on producing high-quality, on-time, and cost-efficient products in a safe environment. Team members are trained in all operational areas, assist in developing and monitoring key performance indicators, and contribute to an engaging guest experience. What You Can Expect ● Operates all equipment used in bottling, coopering, processing and distilling operations and effectively communicates with visitors to answer questions and showcase the craftsmanship and authenticity of Old Forester in a positive, engaging style. ● Bottling: Operates all equipment on the bottling line as well as prepares and inspects filled whiskey bottles for packing and shipping. Will use instruments such as hydrometers, thermometers, density meters, spectrophotometers, and turbidity meters. ● Cooperage: Operates and maintains equipment for barrel raising, toasting, charring, heading, hooping, testing, and filling barrels. ● Distillery: Monitors fermentation process to verify that proper temperatures, times, and sequences are maintained and makes all needed adjustments to operate the distillation column each day. Operates boiler as needed and performs blow down. ● Processing: Operates and maintains equipment to re-gauge, filter, and verify proof of whiskey in an efficient and timely manner preparatory to analysis and adjusts whiskey to meet ISO standards and BATF regulations. Operates reverse osmosis water purification system, pumps, and filter press. Will use instruments such as hydrometers, thermometers, density meters, spectrophotometers, and turbidity meters. Will load and unload bulk whiskey for shipments and complete related SAP transactions. ● All areas: Maintains logs and records for procedures, raw materials, and products. ● Assists with barrel movements throughout the building including new barrels, aged barrels, and new whiskey barrels. Observes all requirements for Food Safety. What You Bring to the Table ● Must be at least 21 years of age and have attained a high school diploma or equivalent ● Highly proficient in communicating with impact and influence. ● Experience working within a high performing work team i.e. working in an environment where there is a shared understanding and accountability of the vision, goals and metrics which in turn promotes teamwork and collaboration to accomplish tasks/results. ● Basic computer knowledge and ability to learn to operate computerized equipment and systems. ● Must have good eye/hand coordination and manual dexterity in order to manipulate cartons, bottles, stickers, labels and other production supplies. ● Strong attention to detail with ability to complete records and reports accurately. ● Able to calibrate, read and operate a variety of complex lab instruments and gauges. ● Able to enter data and generate reports using a computer. ● Full body mobility and the ability to move about in a production environment to include: Bending, squatting, stooping, pushing, pulling, climbing and twisting on a regular basis. ● Lifting and carrying from the ground to waist height up to 50 pounds and pushing/pulling up to 100 pounds. ● Demonstrated ability to effectively interact and engage with consumers. ● Must be able to work any shift, weekends, holidays and/or overtime as required. What Makes You Unique ● Experience with autonomous maintenance and equipment troubleshooting. ● Understanding of TTB compliance and regulations. ● Experience with TPM tools and Continuous Improvement teams. ● Previous experience in an operations role or manufacturing environment.
