Overview Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking an environmental scientist or geologist with 3-5 years of experience to assist in planning and implementing due diligence and environmental assessment projects. Take responsible charge for collecting field data and environmental media samples, interpreting data and preparing technical reports. Work with a team of environmental professionals including professional engineers and professional geologists. This role is flexible with a hybrid schedule based out of our Jacksonville, FL office. The position will involve conducting environmental due diligence, environmental site assessments, soil and groundwater investigations, and remediation oversight and technical report preparation. Daily activities may include site reconnaissance, oversight of soil boring and monitoring wells installations using a drill rig, collection of soil and groundwater samples, laboratory data management, and report preparation. This position is expected to have a 30% - 60% balance between field and office work which will vary based on project needs. The ideal candidates will have a Bachelor of Science degree in geology, earth science, environmental science, or environmental engineering. Responsibilities Conducting investigations related to site remediation particularly in the Southeast United States - but not limited to only these states. Interpreting regulations and guidance documents. Supervising and documenting field studies. Collecting and managing environmental samples. Interpreting and compilation of field and laboratory data. Coordination and oversight of subcontractors. Interacting with state and federal regulators. Calibrating, operating and maintaining field equipment. Conducting aquifer testing. Preparing reports, maps, and annotated findings using Word, Excel, PowerPoint, AutoCAD and ArcGIS. Working in various terrains and environments throughout the year. Qualifications 3-5 years of environmental consulting experience. BS in Geology, Earth Science, Environmental Science or Environmental/Civil Engineering. Geologist-In-Training Certification, a plus. OSHA 40 HAZWOPER training with annual 8-hour refreshers. Familiarity with Florida environmental regulations, guidance documents and forms. Proficient in MS Office Suite, AutoCAD and ArcGIS. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Self-starter and team player. Moderate travel (typically 1 to 2 days per week for fieldwork). Occasional long-distance travel and overnight stays. Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
