JOB DESCRIPTION: The Utility and Permitting Coordinator role manages the utility interconnection process and all permit applications for the residential operations team. The position requires specialized knowledge of PV system interconnection and AHJ requirements for multiple in-state utilities and jurisdictions. This role also serves as a key post-sale customer contact ensuring all administrative project details are organized before and after installation for the residential operations team. RESPONSIBILITIES: Daily portfolio management of 250 active interconnection applications across multiple utilities Coordination between customer, internal operations, and sales teams to obtain and process all required documentation for utility interconnection and applicable incentive applications Collaborate with Residential Operations team to ensure completion of utility milestones, project milestones, and efficiency improvements Complete building and electrical permit applications for residential projects across multiple jurisdictions Assist project management team with permit application requirements and submissions Represent Namaste Solar to various AHJs while applying for permits and gathering code requirements Meet with plans reviewers and zoning officials to obtain necessary permits Maintain contractor licenses Keep track of contractor license renewals and apply for renewals to prevent disruption in operations Ensure we have accurate and current registrations with all relevant AHJs and utilities Create and maintain accurate records and ensure data integrity Keep accurate and up to date records at all times Use Salesforce to create and maintain customer records and manage project timelines Track design and engineering requirements for relevant AHJs in coordination with Residential Operations and Design teams Record and update utility requirements for solar installations in coordination with residential operations team Foster strong relationships with relevant Colorado utilities and AHJs Engage with utility representatives to remain compliant with interconnection standards Participate in and be aware of relevant Colorado legislative proceedings & developments Gain insight into utility-specific net metering guidelines and communicate to internal team Act as cross-departmental company resource for AHJ and utility information and communication Help internal and external stakeholders understand utility billing programs and net metering programs Maintain AHJ records in Salesforce and field questions from internal stakeholders Actively track utility rates, new rules, new pilot programs and any changes that can affect our residential service offerings Support Senior Director of Residential Services with analysis of proposed and existing rate structures Maintain the department's customer communication plans Complete communication plan steps in a timely manner Develop, revise and update email templates Act as company representative to update customers on utility standards and timelines, policy changes, installation timelines and invoicing, and permitting milestones. Set up customer monitoring portals and update alert profiles as needed in coordination with service Fill in for Project Coordinator when volume is high or required to maintain good customer service Participate in Namaste Solar Policy Committee Advocate for more beneficial renewable energy policy as a member of the Policy Committee, helping maintain relationships with organizations like Good Business Colorado and COSSA.
