Role Summary As a Planning Project Manager (PPM) for Master Planning and Conceptual Engineering, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating multi-disciplinary engineering and technical teams, leading in-house landscape architects, urban planners and computational designers to develop and drive an integrated narrative for infrastructure and ecological systems that directly inform the design of the urban design and landscape planning. You will collaborate with professionals from various disciplines to drive the development of master plans and conceptual engineering solutions for large-scale land development projects. The PPM will take a prominent role in expanding our practice in Planning and Conceptual Engineering [MENA Focus Region]. We value collaboration that incorporates multiple perspectives and believe that diverse ideas produce more robust and equitable solutions. The PPM will focus on pre-design which may include master planning, concept design, feasibility assessments, business case making, and narrative development to support our sustainable civil engineering practice. This role requires flexibility in thought, innovation, creativity, basic knowledge of site, civil and landscape engineering, proactive client engagement, and excellent presentation skills. Minimum Skills Typically, 8 years of master planning, conceptual engineering, and infrastructure design experience Typically 4 years of construction documentation experience and built projects Bachelor’s degree in planning, Urban Design, Landscape Architecture, Civil Engineering, Architecture or other related design fields Proven experience in project management for large-scale (50 acre and $500k) land development projects Basic understanding of Site Design including Grading, Earthwork Stormwater Management/Hydrologic Cycle, Road Design, Utility Systems Layout & Sizing Experience mentoring staff in various graphics platforms such as Rhino, InDesign, illustrator, photoshop, slide decks, GIS and CAD Excellent ability to communicate in both writing and verbally the full scope and vision of a project and identify opportunities for integration with other consultant scopes Proven ability to identify opportunities for involvement outside of scope and proactively engage clients to unlock organic growth opportunities Strong passion for and track record in engaging client organizations to identify and win new projects Proficiency with visual communication and digital collaboration tools Ability to travel to other offices/sites as needed Skills Master’s or PhD degree in relevant field Knowledge of programs (Computational Design Tools, Civil 3D, Storm and Sewer Analysis, Hydro CAD, Flowmaster, StormCAD, etc.) Relevant certifications or other sustainability-oriented accreditation (iLEED, Envision, Living Building Challenge, EcoDistricts, DBIA) Professional Registration (PE, APA, LA) or ability to obtain within one year after starting the role Experience leading at least two successful business development pursuits of $250,000 design Expected Outcomes Efficiently coordinate multi-disciplinary teams for successful master planning and conceptual engineering projects Lead in-house teams, fostering an integrated narrative for infrastructure and ecological systems Drive urban design and landscape planning, expanding the Planning and Conceptual Engineering practice in the MENA Focus Region Lead sustainable engineering through pre-design activities, encompassing master planning, concept design, feasibility assessments, business case development, and narrative creation Effectively communicate project scope and vision, identifying opportunities for expanded involvement Demonstrate passion for engaging clients, winning new projects, and leading successful business development pursuits Dedicate efforts to recruit, build, mentor, and foster a diverse team, displaying flexibility in thought and innovation Develop and implement innovative design techniques to enhance project productivity Directly oversee and manage engineering, planning, and design efforts from project inception to completion Ensure diligent and timely compliance with company business practices, including maintaining a Professional Registration (PE, APA, LA) What We Offer Own a part of the firm with ESOP eligibility after one year Flexible working - with every other Friday off Competitive Health plans, including PPO and HMO options, Dental and Vision plans Learning and Development stipend to use as you see fit Generous PTO and 8 paid holidays Automatic 401k enrollment Fun team events, lunches and happy hours to get to know colleagues outside of work A tangible opportunity to truly help the environment Compensation: The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to: skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. At Sherwood Design Engineers, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $135,146 to $165,179. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.
