General Description: Provide safety advice, and protection and carry out audits to ensure that organization and government standards on environmental health and safety are met, identifying hazardous workplace conditions, creating organizational culture and awareness on safety, company policies and procedures, and regulations about employee safety. Ensures compliance with all applicable federal and state health and safety regulations and ensures necessary records are maintained and prepared according to established guidelines. Participates in Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) inspections, providing inspectors with appropriate documents and identifying safety measures. Position Specific Requirements (PSR): Be a change catalyst to foster a culture of safety and environmental excellence in the organization. Develop and implement health, safety, and environmental strategies, policies, and procedures in line with company, local, state, and federal standards. Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify potential hazards, assess risks, and recommend appropriate corrective actions. Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees on safety procedures, emergency response protocols, and environmental conservation practices. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of safety programs and initiatives, making necessary adjustments to ensure continuous improvement. Investigate and report accidents, incidents, and near misses, analyzing root causes and implementing preventive measures to minimize future occurrences. Maintain and update safety data sheets (SDS) and ensure compliance with hazard communication standards. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement ergonomic solutions, promote wellness initiatives, and mitigate occupational health risks. Stay updated on relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations and industry best practices, and communicate changes and updates to the organization. Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies, participating in inspections, audits, and permit applications. Develop and maintain emergency response plans, including evacuation procedures, and coordinate drills and exercises to ensure preparedness. Engage employees at all levels to drive safe behavior and implement improved safety and environmental performance initiatives. Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Ability to walk the manufacturing floor for prolonged periods. Qualifications: Strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations and compliance requirements. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively train employees, facilitate discussions, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders. Proficiency in risk assessment methodologies and hazard identification techniques. Analytical and problem-solving skills to identify risks, analyze data, and develop effective solutions. Attention to detail and strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously. Ability to lead and influence others, fostering a culture of safety and accountability throughout the organization. Proficiency in using computer software and systems to manage and track safety data and information. Education: Bachelors in Occupational Health and Safety, environmental science, or a related field or relevant experience. A Certified Safety Professional (CSP) is preferred. Experience: Requires 5-8 years of EHS experience in environmental health and safety management, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards. Proficiency in risk assessment methodologies and hazard identification techniques. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. In-depth knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant regulations and standards. Experience in developing and implementing safety training programs and managing safety committees. Strong understanding of risk management principles and incident investigation techniques. Familiarity with ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001/ISO 45001 standards is a plus.
