Title: Senior Civil Environmental Engineer - Federal Program Location: Norfolk, VA Job Type: Regular Full-time What’s the Opportunity? Anchor QEA is seeking a full-time civil/environmental engineer in the Norfolk, Virginia region. We are looking for a candidate with coastal and environmental experience at marine facilities and with design for US Department of Defense (DoD) agencies, particularly the US Navy (NAVFAC). This position will manage and support civil/environmental engineering projects in the coastal environment, working for our clients including state and local entities, port authorities, and the US Federal government. We are interested in a candidate that has the capacity to grow, is a quick learner, is detail-orientated, is a committed team player, and possesses strong written and verbal communication skills. Typical project locations will be based in the Mid-Atlantic region, but assignments may also include work on projects nationwide. Responsibilities: Serves as the engineer supporting development and design for projects including, but not limited to, concept designs, alternative studies, basis of design requirements, construction drawings, technical reports and specifications, and construction cost estimates. Provides technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers. Manages team and coordinates with client’s project manager and/or technical staff. Develops client relationships, leads proposals, and contributes to the sales process. Analyzes complex problems and develops value-engineered solutions. Ensures that work products are prepared in accordance with Anchor QEA’s quality management program. Ability to travel for field site visits and project meetings in various US locations. Participates in construction support activities including review of contractor requests for information and submittals and oversight of construction activities. What Can You Expect? BS or MS degree in relevant engineering field (coastal, environmental, geotechnical). 12 years of relevant work experience as a Coastal, Environmental, or Remediation Engineer. Demonstrated experience with MILCON or working on Department of Defense (DoD)-lead planning and design projects programs, e.g. USACE, US Navy, etc. Preference given to candidates with experience with dredging, dredged material management, and coastal design, including the planning and implementation of sampling, data analysis, feasibility studies, design, and construction. Strong understanding of the application of engineering principles to engineering design, including cost estimating, development of plans and specifications, development of bid packages, development of dredge plans, and overseeing design implementation in the field (i.e., construction oversight and management). Experience in project and program management including developing and managing scopes, detailed schedules, budgets, and sub-consultants. A Virginia Professional Engineering (PE) license or ability to obtain within one year. Proficiency in MS Office. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
