Mead & Hunt has an exciting opportunity for a business developer. This is a role specifically focused on growing business within targeted regions and business units for Mead & Hunt. This person will have the opportunity and support to grow this role into a position of national prominence and cultivate a key leadership position within the firm. The individual will join a well-established water supply and wastewater treatment group with a strong portfolio of nationally recognized projects and considerable technical expertise. This person will be responsible for working with existing and new private clients to leverage that expertise into expanded relationships and service offerings from Mead & Hunt. Project delivery will take the form of traditional professional services and engineering/procurement/construction (EPC) contracting. Essential Duties Learn and familiarize oneself with the Water, Food & Beverage and other manufacturing industries to understand how the Company can better support customers' water and wastewater needs. Discover and engage with current and potential customers to learn their business and understand how Mead & Hunt can support their organization's initiatives; continuously follow up to improve customer satisfaction and ensure repeat business communicating any concerns and solutions to VP of Sales & Marketing. Communicate effectively with clients and internal staff using digital media such as web conferences, phone calls, LinkedIn, and in-person meetings when applicable. Meet regularly with the One Water Group Leader and VP of Sales and Marketing to communicate needs, foreseeable concerns, goal achievement progress and any other updates. Operate within our CRM system on a frequent basis ensuring consistent updates for other appropriate users. Draft and develop technically written proposals using information from subject matter experts, vendors, and partners. Identify new sales leads and clients for prospective project development; assist with outlines of customized series of questions while documenting project history and coordinating introductory meetings and any follow-ups. Support proposal development for the Sales team in the following tasks: developing an outline of the project or tasks with the client; identifying comparable example proposals with the One Water Group Leader and VP of Sales & Marketing; drafting proposals or supporting the proposal team with preparing sections; coordinate and handle peer review and support the subject matter expert in the task; ensure proposals run through the appropriate review process, are reviewed by leadership, and document updates in CRM. Participate in trade associations and events nationally upon approval by the group leader. Understand and keep updated on market drivers such as regulatory compliance topics and funding. Participate in Go/No Go process for proposals. Participate in trade associations specific to industrial wastewater treatment for membership and identify potential events to promote Mead & Hunt's business while sharing technical information references with Mead & Hunt subject matter experts. Coordinate and facilitate client and vendor meetings; attend meetings and document activities such as agenda, minutes, action items, and follow-up with tasks assigned until complete. Manage the CRM by maintaining a forecast including accurate information on important dates, cost, probability of proposals won and anticipated project durations; ensure the Marketing team is aware of proposal due dates while following up on pending actions in addition to documenting future action steps and any sales calls. Coordinate and facilitate cross market group meetings (One Water, Food & Beverage & EPC); draft and develop meeting agenda and content with Client Manager and VP of Sales & Marketing including project updates and learned lessons from staff following completed projects; review with Group Leader and execute. The successful candidate must have : Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field AND At least five (5) years of relevant experience OR, if no degree Must have at least nine (9) years of relevant experience The ideal candidate will have any/all of the following: Background in water/wastewater services Proven track record in business development with such clients as municipalities, government agencies, food and beverage facilities and/or industrial processing facilities Robust time and expense management skills with the ability to prioritize while calmly working under pressure to meet deadlines and changing demands A creative mind with good written and verbal communication skills, along with interpersonal skills Highly resourceful and self-motivated individual that can work independently and within a team Ability and drive to visit with prospective clients Ability for national travel Verbal communications skills for in person presentations If you're highly communicative, self-motivated and approach sales efforts with an energetic attitude, a passion for sustainable industries such as renewable energy biogas and greenhouse gas reduction, manage strict deadlines and work with changing circumstances you'll do well in this role.
