Our team is comprised of highly skilled civil hydrologic, structural, and geotechnical engineers, consulting to the world’s largest stakeholders for solar, wind, and battery storage energy projects. We are seeking a Civil/Geotechnical Engineer who is ready to grow and develop while supporting our US and Canadian team. The engineer in this position will be exposed to the broadest cross-section of solar, storage, and wind projects of any renewables company in the world supporting a wide breadth of civil engineering projects by providing civil, owners, and independent engineering consulting services for the renewable industry. What You’ll Do Multi-disciplinary collaboration for Independent Engineering, Owner’s Engineering, and Merger & Acquisition services Review of design drawings, calculations, and geotechnical studies for solar and energy project’s civil infrastructure, to support project financing or owner due diligence processes Construction monitoring site visits, construction QA/QC documentation review of solar energy project construction Evaluate pre-market design concepts for solar and other energy support systems Evaluate root cause analyses of failure for solar and other energy projects Support proposal preparation for civil work scope for solar and other services Project management of small projects Work with a geographically diverse team, within North America and internationally Prioritize QHSSE considerations within the team to ensure safe execution and healthy work environment Embark on a rewarding and fulfilling career with one of the industry’s leading consultancies and make a few friends along the way What is Required Master of Science - Geotechnical Engineering 1 to 3 years of experience with project design through construction P.E. or P.Eng. license Understanding of common geotechnical design aspects applicable to various foundation types, including considerations related to overall foundation design, such as structural, civil, and hydrology factors Proficiency in IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI, NBCC, EuroCode and other common structural design codes Proficiency in MathCad, LPile, slope stability, and other common geotechnical analysis programs Able to work independently and make independent decisions when called for Willing and able to travel up to 20% of the time Willing and able to use common construction personal protective equipment, walk over uneven terrain, and climb ladders during site visits Strong written and verbal English communication skills We conduct pre-employment drug and background screening A valid Drivers License is required What is Preferred Prior experience with other infrastructure types (e.g., transmission lines, substations, hydrogen facilities) Understanding of common Solar PV foundation systems and geotechnical aspects of design Understanding of reinforced concrete foundation systems for utility scale onshore wind turbines and infrastructures Proficiency in geotechnical numerical analysis software, such as PLAXIS, FLAC, or similar tools Immigration-related employment benefits, for example, visa sponsorship, are not available for this position DNV is a proud equal opportunity employer committed to building an inclusive and diverse workforce.
