Senior Electrical Project Engineer (Hybrid Work Schedule) Job Category: Senior Associate Requisition Number: SENIO004633 Posted: January 17, 2024 Employment Type: Full-Time Locations Houston, TX 77010, USA Travel Required: Yes (up to 20% travel anticipated, with prior approval) Description The Senior Electrical Project Engineer within the Development Engineering team supports engineering requests for all projects in Development. The role includes electrical design for solar, energy storage, and other renewable technology projects. Responsibilities include due diligence for IM&A, siting, feasibility studies, new technology evaluation, RFI support, proposal evaluation, conceptual design, design review, and CAPEX estimates. Familiarity with solar PV modules, batteries, combiner boxes, inverters, transformers, DC and AC collection systems is required. Promote environmental stewardship and a health and safety-focused culture within the Engineering group. MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES: Support all development projects for electrical engineering-related queries until the project achieves PPA investment approval. Provide PV/MV engineering support to Solar and Storage Business Development Engineering groups. Maintain involvement in all phases of Development Engineering work related to electrical design. Provide preliminary internal engineering to support the Development pipeline by creating conceptual design layouts and detailed diagrams in AutoCAD. Create models for renewable projects utilizing ETAP software. Optimize electrical portion of the BoP/EPC and long lead equipment estimates. Review and interpret design drawings, specifications, and documents. Create and maintain a template library of drawings and calculations. Analyze complex engineering problems and offer effective resolutions in a timely manner. Conduct value-engineering studies of alternative design approaches. Participate in project meetings and conference calls. Review interconnection-related documents and coordinate with Execution Engineering Group. Assist Electrical Engineering Manager in overseeing third-party consultants. Serve as an interface between the Engineering group and internal clients. Create and maintain databases and reports to streamline processes. Maintain professional and technical knowledge through workshops and publications. Support early-stage electrical studies required for Development, Transmission Interconnection, and Execution Engineering teams. Provide necessary technical documents to support RFI and RFP release. Review RFI responses and update CAPEX estimates. Support technical review of IM&A projects. Implement industry and company best practices. Additional duties as required. Direct reports: 0 Expenses: n/a Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering is required. Experience: 3 – 5 years of planning, design, and engineering experience is required. Renewable Energy experience is preferred. Knowledge: Understanding of industry standards and codes, including NEC, IEEE, NESC, and ANSI. Skills: Proficiency with AutoCAD, knowledge of Power System software preferred.
