Job Description The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) is seeking a Senior research professional to join the Strategic Energy Group in the Energy and Resilience Center (ESR). Come join a team that conducts research & analysis on the impact of the energy transition on strategic energy security. We support U.S. and international partners in pursuing clean energy and our work informs decisions by developing and analyzing future scenarios that answer challenging and complex questions about how energy production and use may impact decisionmakers’ interests. The candidate should have national and international collaboration experience on developing studies, analyses, best practices, standards and publications related to hazards and resilience as it relates to energy. Job Responsibilities Leading and contributing to analytic reports Interpreting results, and communicating outcomes for reports and presentations both internally to NREL and externally Developing solutions for significant, unique, or complex problems that consistently require a high level of creativity and where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of intangibles. Using a mastery of specialized techniques and may develop multi-disciplinary solutions for state-of-the-art problems. Serving as an authority in technical decision-making and direction at directorate level. Project coordination with internal and external teams Researching, acquiring, organizing, and analyzing qualitative and quantitative information. Collaborating with analysts & researchers across NREL in modeling and analysis Writing and publishing results of analyses in technical reports and executive summaries written for lay audiences Basic Qualifications Relevant PhD and 4 or more years of experience. Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of laws, regulations, principles, procedures and practices related to specific field. Annual Salary Range (based on full-time 40 hours per week) Job Profile: Researcher IV / Annual Salary Range: $95,500 - $171,900 Job Profile: Researcher V / Annual Salary Range: $114,500 - $206,100 NREL takes into consideration a candidate’s education, training, and experience, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value, including seniority and merit systems, and internal pay alignment when determining the salary level for potential new employees.
