You will join our Site Solutions team As our new Staff Geologist, you will be part of our interdisciplinary team in Cincinnati, Ohio. You will work with all levels of expertise from junior level team members to members with decades of experience, many of whom are subject matter experts in their fields. Ramboll engineers, geologists, and scientists deliver value-added, site-specific solutions that address all aspects of the remediation process - from site investigation and feasibility studies to risk assessment, remedy selection, remedial design, and construction management to site reuse. The individual should be able to apply problem-solving skills to an array of media (e.g., vadose zone, sediment, soil, groundwater surface water interface), contaminants (e.g., inorganics, organics, and chlorinated solvents), and sources (e.g., industrial sites, landfill properties, chemical and manufacturing industries). We will train you in the event your prior experiences with these types of field investigations are limited. The primary duties of the staff geologist will be to assist current Project Managers with implementing a variety of field studies and the data collection efforts that accompany such investigations. Qualified candidates will have a strong technical focus and have demonstrated abilities in: Data reduction and analysis. Experience with (and/or a willingness to learn) the collection of soil, groundwater, sediment, and/or vapor samples. Experience with (and/or a willingness to learn) geologic well logging, monitoring well construction and development. Experience with field equipment and meter use, calibration, and troubleshooting (e.g., PID, gas meter, pumps, in-line water quality probes, surface water monitors). Proven written and verbal communication skills. For this role, we believe your starting point is: BS in Geology, related engineering or science degrees may be considered; Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel required; 0-2 years environmental consulting experience; Ability to perform field activities that require outdoor work and physical exertion; Active participation in professional associations and other organizations a plus; OSHA HAZWOPER 40-hour certification preferred; Proficiency in GIS and GPS platforms will be considered a significant plus. Physical requirements for this role include: the need for climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing/sitting/walking, pushing/pulling, and exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. In certain situations, this position may expose the candidate to extremes in weather (hot/cold); high noise levels, to hazards such as proximity to moving machine parts and moving vehicles, electrical current and exposure to chemicals. Employees will be required to travel (up to 80% of the time, including internationally), take specific training and to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) on some occasions.
