Stantec’s Environmental Services practice seeks a Senior Acoustics/Noise Consultant to support our expanding U.S. environmental noise, vibration, and acoustics (NVA) practice. In this role you would collaborate with our scientists and engineers supporting clients in a variety of sectors, including energy and power, data centers, site development and planning, transportation, and federal markets. The NVA team provides support throughout project development, construction, and operational phases with a full suite of specialized technical services including planning, design, monitoring, modeling, permitting, public outreach, expert witness, and post-construction studies. This opportunity location is flexible, within our established U.S. office locations. Preferred office locations include Minneapolis (MN), Chicago (IL), Madison (WI), and Columbus (OH). Your Key Responsibilities Manage noise/acoustics projects and tasks from proposal to completion, delivering projects on schedule, and within scope and budget. Identify project-specific acoustic design and regulatory requirements. Conduct, and/or oversee staff completing, field measurements, technical analyses, modeling, and reporting. Analyze and interpret acoustical modeling results, evaluate noise mitigation measures, and document results of acoustical analyses through development of technical reports. Present at public meetings and appear as expert witness for acoustics projects. Contribute to training of junior staff in field work, analysis, modeling, and report preparation. Support the expansion of NVA team acoustics service offerings. Maintain professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of the latest trends, software, and technology. Support client relationship, business development and marketing activities. Your Capabilities and Credentials Proficiency with acoustical modeling software (e.g., CadnaA, TNM, INSUL, or similar) and technical tools to support acoustics/noise analyses (spreadsheets, GIS, AutoCAD). Experience with acoustic measurement methods, software, and instrumentation. Experience reviewing local, state, and federal environmental regulations and permitting requirements. Experience in managing multiple projects and tasks concurrently. Willingness and ability to travel periodically for meetings and field work. Strong work ethic, high ethical and quality standards, and a desire for team success. Strong written and verbal communications skills. Experience with vibration, underwater noise (hydroacoustics), and building acoustics is not required but would be beneficial. Familiarity with scientific programming languages for data processing and analysis (Matlab, Python) would be beneficial. Possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record. Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in acoustics, engineering, physical sciences, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred. Coursework in acoustics is preferred. Minimum 8 years of progressively responsible experience with technical specialization in acoustics and noise assessment. Demonstrated experience in environmental acoustics/noise assessments is required. Experience in noise assessments for the renewable energy, power, and public utility sectors is preferred.
