Prospecting Director - Elimini Career Level: 3 Permanent Location: Houston (Remote) We are Elimini, and our purpose is to remove carbon for good. Elimini is developing a multi-billion Bioenergy Carbon Capture & Storage (BECCS) project which aims to deliver carbon removals at megaton scale. As the Prospecting Director, you’ll be responsible for managing site identification and other project prospecting and development activities of large-scale, complex Biomass Energy Carbon Capture and Storage (BECCS) projects. The role will focus on leading and coordinating the necessary workstreams to identify and screen greenfield and brownfield sites, colocation and project acquisition opportunities, and other deal structures to populate and maintain the pipeline of BECCS projects. Each site will have various activities ongoing at different paces depending on the maturity of site development, which will necessitate developing networks and regular follow-ups with local and state agencies, such as permitting authorities, environmental agencies, and counterparties such as landowners. About the role As Prospecting Director, you will be required to support BECCS project development across North America from site identification to the “development ready” stage. Lead the site screening, selection, and feasibility assessment process. Conduct land, market, regulatory, and other project-related research. Oversee land acquisition efforts by managing the purchase or lease negotiation process with landowners and serving as the primary contact with participating landowners. Coordinate the prospecting phase environmental and permitting activities at the local, state, and federal levels. Engage and oversee third-party consultants to perform site characterization studies, energy assessments, surveys, and any environmental studies necessary to ensure site-specific compliance with regulatory and financing requirements. You’ll be the “face of the project” by maintaining relationships with landowners and local leaders, performing community outreach and other stakeholder management activities. About you You’ll hold a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject and have a minimum of seven (7) years’ experience contributing to and leading project development for utility-scale renewable projects in the US. You’ll have a minimum of ten (10) years’ professional experience working within the renewable energy or power generation sectors. Essential to this role, you’ll have solid knowledge of ArcGIS, Power BI, and all Microsoft applications, as well as the ability to identify and gather information sources, interpret data, and apply technical knowledge to support project development activities. Communication is key, and you’ll have highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to communicate at all levels across the organization.
