Geologist Job Locations: US-TX-Houston Category: Environmental Type: Full-Time Overview As a Geologist/Environmental Scientist for Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC), you'll be directly involved with environmental compliance monitoring and assessment projects. Your primary responsibility will be completing field activities, including: Assisting with and leading field sampling activities for groundwater, surface water, air and soil monitoring/assessment projects; Monitoring soil boring installation and bedrock coring activities; Installing groundwater monitoring wells and piezometers using a variety of drilling methods; Field screening of various media for evidence of environmental impacts; Documenting groundwater monitoring well and piezometer installation activities; Assisting with reporting activities, including managing and interpreting environmental data, developing potentiometric surface maps and geologic cross sections, and report development. Qualifications B.S. in Geology, Environmental Science or related field (M.S. a plus); P.G. or G.I.T a plus; 5-8 years' professional experience; Ability to speak and write professionally; Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and ability to drive a pickup truck; Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel; Drilling and environmental media sampling experience; Installation of monitoring wells, including selection of screen intervals based on field observation; Familiarity with the Texas Risk Reduction Program (TRRP); OSHA 40-hour Hazardous Waste Operations training.
