The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing energy efficiency and sustainability programs for our client’s facilities. This role involves conducting energy audits, analyzing energy consumption, and designing energy-saving solutions for the built environment. The Energy Engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for reducing energy usage and improving operational efficiency. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Day-to-day activities may include the following as this position leads energy projects and works with internal team members to develop mechanical, controls, and performance-based projects. Other duties may be assigned. Energy Audits & Analysis: Conduct detailed onsite facility surveys to document energy consuming systems, equipment, and operations, including interviews with occupants and operators. Conduct onsite investigations of building envelope systems and analyze energy saving opportunities. Review architectural, MEP, and control system drawings to pull relevant project information. Analyze building energy consumption data to establish baselines and identify trends. Analyze building energy consuming systems to identify opportunities for energy savings. Prepare comprehensive energy audit reports with recommendations for energy efficiency improvements and required sequence of operations. Coordinate with Client Services department to analyze equipment performance data to identify wasted energy opportunities. Conduct economic analysis quantifying projected energy savings, simple payback and ROI of recommended energy conservation measures. Communicate energy audit/analysis findings with Haynes team members and external clients. Technical Expertise: Identify and recommend energy-efficient systems for HVAC, lighting, and other building systems. Ability to write required sequence of operations for energy efficiency projects. Provide energy savings estimates/calculations for engineered mechanical and control system upgrades. Stay updated with the latest technologies and best practices in energy management. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal energy regulations and standards. Benchmarking and Energy Star portfolio management. Prepare and submit energy reports and documentation as required by regulatory bodies. Track and report on energy savings and project performance metrics. Stay updated with energy efficiency rebate programs and incorporate into project recommendations. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor of Science or Master of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, Energy Engineering, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of experience in energy management or a related field. Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Building Energy Assessment Professional (BEAP), or Energy Management Professional (EMP) designation is required. Proficiency in energy modeling software, data analysis tools, and building management systems. In-depth understanding of energy management principles, building systems, and energy regulations. Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy of data. Demonstrated strategic thinking. Sound judgment and problem-solving skills. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: The following qualifications are desired but not required. LEED Accreditation or other sustainability certifications. Experience with renewable energy systems (solar, wind, etc.). Knowledge of utility incentive programs and energy financing mechanisms. Experience in retro/new/ongoing commissioning. Experience with Building Performance CO and Energize Denver ordinances, procedures and documentation. Experience in developing project proposals and cost estimating.
