Job Description Senior Level Fiber SPLICING Technicians Responsibilities: Pulling, fabricating, testing, and splicing OSP/ISP fiber (48 strand, 144 strand, 3456 strand, and 6912 strand). Additional Requirements: Must be willing to travel up to 50% of the time. (Reno Sparks Fallon Fernly NV area) The candidates must be able to pass a OneSource background check and drug screening. They will need to complete the following training. Osha 10, CommScope and Panduit training prior to reporting to the jobsite. Job Summary: The Fiber Technician is responsible for all aspects of Fiber including but not limited to installing, terminating, testing and splicing. Job Duties and Responsibilities: Cabling & Termination Skills: Must possess the ability to: Install LC, SC, ST, FC, FDDI, SMA and MPO/MTP connectors, for both multi-mode & single-mode fiber Terminate simplex & duplex jumper cord Terminate & breakout outside plant (loose tube) fiber (e.g. Corning/Commscope) Terminate & breakout outside plant (loose tube) fiber (e.g. 3DNX) Terminate indoor tight buffered multimode and single-mode fiber Install fan out kits Install buffer tube fan out kits Calculate end to end loss budgets in accordance with TIA/EIA standards for multimode & single-mode fiber Basic copper termination skills Fully complete all IES paperwork accurately and on time specifically: timesheets, material transfers, work orders, change orders, Job Blog, tool transfers and others as required Other duties as assigned Testing: Must have the ability to: Test using an OTDR, Fluke DTX 1800 Troubleshoot using an OTDR to identify and correct problems end to end, and Network wide Provide all documentation required Label in accordance with IES Standards Splicing: Must have the ability to: Perform mechanical splicing with all types of fiber cable Perform fusion splicing with all types of fiber cable Perform building entrance splices, maintenance space, and direct buried splices Tools: Must own and be able to use all tools of Cable Installers: (Basic Hand Tools: screwdriver (Regular & Phillips), drywall saw, torpedo level, tape measure, snips, pliers (needle nose and channel locks), hammer, cable stripper Trade Tools: Punch tool with 110 block and 66 block blade 6/8 position combo crimp tool Tone set Qualifications Physical and Mental Requirements: Must be able to move up to 75 lbs.
