Senior Asset Engineer - Renewables / Perth Office - Permanent Opportunity

In this position, you will be accountable for developing and implementing best practice operational asset management principles and long-term strategies to ensure optimal life cycle performance of our network assets.
Your Role in Action
As the Senior Asset Engineer, you will be accountable for developing and applying best practice asset management strategies to deliver optimal life cycle performance of distribution assets on nominated traditional and renewable energy asset classes. This includes the development and application of maintenance standards, condition and life assessment and risk mitigation strategies, and the preparation of work plans.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Support implementation of asset management strategies over asset life cycle
- Assess and manage asset risks and regulatory obligations.
- Monitoring & reporting on asset condition and performance
- Support development of effective and efficient asset investment programs
- Define and document best practice asset management standards through applying subject matter engineering expertise and contribute to the development of asset management plans.
- Provide optimal technical solutions, technical advice and problem solving on the distribution assets including Stand-alone Power Systems (SPS), Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and Micro-grids.
- Prepare and deliver prudent and efficient work plans and complex business cases for capital expenditure and operations and maintenance expenditure.
- Introduce and manage change effectively, including the implementation and integration of new assets and technologies to effectively operate and maintain (O&M) assets.
- Prepare and update comprehensive documentation for integration and system change/configuration.
- Undertake asset incident and incident trending analysis and investigations.
- Drive continuous improvement and innovation in the management of asset(s)
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
- Engage in decision making processes regarding problem solving and optimal technical solutions for business and asset management systems.
- Mentoring and sharing knowledge and learning with less experienced employees
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to achieve asset and works program performance objectives.
- Take personal accountability for safety in the work environment for both internal staff and external contractors. Ensure safe work practices are followed and reviewed.
What Makes You a Great Fit
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or emerging power systems engineering essential
- Eligible for Professional Engineer membership (MIEAust) with Engineers Australia
- Significant engineering industry experience (at least 5 years) in preferably performance, operation and maintenance areas
- Knowledge of project and asset management applications and HOMER software.
- Demonstrated track-record of combining comprehensive technical skills with exposure to risk management and governance processes.
- Minimum 10 years demonstrated experience in maintenance and asset management related functions
- Demonstrated commitment to safety and compliance of standards.
- Ability to relate tasks to the "big picture" and communicate accordingly.
