Job Description:Summary:
Barr's stack testing group is looking for motivated individuals to join their team in tackling challenging projects across the air quality field. This group provides innovative solutions and meets the air quality testing needs of Barr's mining, fuels, power, and manufacturing clients.
The person in this role will sample, analyze, monitor, and report emissions of various air sources to support our client's regulatory permitting and compliance needs.
A typical project may involve:
- Conducting air-emissions sampling and data collection at industrial facilities
- Maintaining and calibrating equipment
- Completing laboratory analysis and data reduction
- Assisting with report preparation for submittal to clients and regulatory authorities
- Traveling to complete tasks at client facilities in addition to finishing project responsibilities at the Barr office

Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a science- or engineering-related field
- Mechanical aptitude
- Laboratory/chemistry experience or relevant course work
- Experience with Microsoft Office and Excel
- Initiative to identify and independently carry out tasks needing completion while maintaining a collaborative team environment
- Commitment to fulfill client needs and responsibilities despite obstacles
- Well-organized with a conscientiousness for accuracy, appropriateness, and timeliness of results
- A flexible working style and willingness to occasionally modify personal schedule as required to meet project deadlines and/or client needs
- Positive attitude and approach to problem solving
- Strong communication and personal interaction skills
- Mindset for career growth and continuous development
- Availability and willingness to regularly travel up to 50 percent of the time with the potential for greater levels of periodic travel to meet client needs
- Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 70 pounds
- Ability to work at heights (approximately 100 feet for regular work)
- Possession of a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship from Barr, now or in the future
Additional helpful experience (not required):
- Working knowledge of air-emission test methods
- Experience with air-emission sampling equipment and conducting air-emission stack tests
- Experience evaluating environmental data and preparing reports
A hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid work arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office. This position is based out of Barr's Edina or Hibbing, Minnesota, offices.
Compensation:
The anticipated base salary range for this position is $24-$28 per hour. This position is classified as non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Compensation will vary based on relevant experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors. Employees in this position may also be eligible for a discretionary cash bonus based on team and individual performance. Barr has a "no retained earnings" model and distributes all its profit to our employees through our bonus plan and ESOP.

NOTE: Applicants must be able to work in locations that feature rough terrain typical of industrial and construction sites and to enter and work in facilities that include limited accessibility, moving machinery, and other conditions typical of industrial facilities. Job assignments may involve work on waste disposal sites and sites requiring cleanup of hazardous materials. An OSHA-mandated physical exam may be required; safety training will be provided.
