This Business Development Manager, Engagement will be responsible for interfacing with key external stakeholders, understanding their pain points, and facilitating knowledge exchange across companies that results in better products and offers.
The ideal candidate will be an entrepreneur and business developer, someone who can quickly understand a problem, identify a solution, then draw on resources from across Tesla's policy, product, sales, and engineering teams to implement it. This will also require a capable storyteller who is comfortable interfacing with executive teams from various stakeholders within our industry, understanding their pain points, and tying it all together in a narrative that motivates change.
Responsibilities - Knock down any barriers to storage adoption
- Identification - build relationships with industry stakeholders to understand their biggest pain points on the road to 100% renewable energy
- Program management - drive strategic alignment by coordinating related topics, streamlining processes, resolving risks, and ensuring successful delivery of program objectives
- Advocacy - convince key industry stakeholders (e.g. utilities, ISOs, policymakers, financers) to adopt Tesla's view of the future
- Solution design - work closely with product, engineering, and policy teams to design solutions, from new financing strategies to policy proposals, to new tools and resources
Requirements - Excellent understanding of energy industry; deep knowledge of energy storage technology and value proposition
- Strong communications, strategy, financial, and program management skills
- Experience presenting to external executive teams, ideally in a sales or BD role. Strong existing connections across the energy industry
- Entrepreneurial mindset - self-starter who can explore and qualify opportunities with little direction
- 6+ years in energy industry; 4+ years in energy storage
- Preference for candidates with experience at (or working closely with) utilities, grid operators, banks, independent engineering firms

$64,000 - $210,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
