Environmental Program Consultant.
It is full-time (40 hours per week) with State Benefits.
This position currently qualifies for a hybrid telework option with routine office and remote workdays. Environmental Program Consultant will manage all aspects of DWR's spatial data in an efficient and accurate manner that allows easy access by internal and external users. In addition, this position will assist Branches within DWR in retrieving, evaluating, and develop mapping applications for PFAS and other water quality data from different sources to provide a better understanding of the state's water resources. This position consults with all levels of DWR, DEQ, State IT and other organizations and agencies.
Key Responsibilities: - Manage a large and diverse inventory of PFAS and other water quality spatial data, automated workflows, maps and applications, and spatial platforms for the Division ow Water Resources.
- Create and maintains geospatial datasets, maps, applications, full project workflows, and field data collection tools to support DWR's mission.
- Consult with DWR and DEQ staff, other state agencies and stakeholders to develop the most effective and accurate geospatial tools to provide easy access by staff and the public to PFAS and other water quality data.
- Train DWR staff on current GIS tools developed for internal and external use, and current and new spatial platform tools.
The Division of Water Resources: The Division of Water Resources is responsible for protecting North Carolina's drinking, surface and groundwater for all waterbodies including lakes, streams, rivers, wetlands and aquifers. This environmental stewardship is accomplished through actions including permitting issuance, investigations, regulatory compliance and enforcement, monitoring and field assessments, certifications, laboratory analysis and testing, planning, water quality standards management, educational outreach and other efforts. The Division comprises six Sections: Water Quality Regional Operations; Water Sciences; Public Water Supply; Water Quality Permitting; Groundwater Resources, and Water Planning. To qualify for this position, applicants must document on the application that they possess ALL of the following: - Demonstrated experience with geospatial analysis of datasets using the ESRI ArcGIS environment and/or other geospatial and statistical software.
