This
Senior Data Scientist - Solar Energy role is key in expanding existing data science capabilities in the energy assessment and analytics space. You will develop, deploy, and validate new data, models and product features that will empower customers to make informed decisions through robust tools and data. Collaborate with fellow data scientists to drive best practices and innovation, and outside the data science team to share and celebrate results.
You will be part of a group developing renewable energy digital products that will facilitate the energy transition. This entails working as part of a global team of fellow data scientists but also coming together to collaborate with members of software engineering and product teams and involves opportunities to work across a range of renewable energy focused products.
This role will report to our DNV office in Austin, TX.What You'll Do - Develop, validate, and manage models to support energy assessment and analytics products, ensuring high-quality and scalable solutions
- Implement models programmatically leveraging scientific computing to build robust and scalable solutions
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of data science processes and methodologies, best practices, and technical approaches
- Provide technical input and drive execution of strategic goals to support the Head of Data Science in strategic planning
- Support the development of more junior and less experienced team members
- Collaborate with product and software development team to integrate data science models into product offerings, ensuring technical accuracy
- Communicate results and outcomes to technical and non-technical stakeholders and contribute to technical publications (white papers, blog posts, conferences)
- Create and maintain documentation of data science projects
- Identify and validate potential third-party data or services that could be leveraged

QualificationsWhat Is required- Bachelor's degree or higher with 5+ years of experience
- Solar energy domain knowledge: solar radiation, photovoltaics, meteorology
- Good competency with python scientific computing: numpy, pandas, jupyter
- Familiarity with software development tools: git, bash, CI/CD, unit tests
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills

What Is Preferred- Good experience with model development, deployment and validation: ML, statistical, empirical, and physical
