Description

The work we do at the Kentucky Division for Air Quality has a direct impact on the health, welfare,and economic security of all Kentuckians. To ensure that economic growth occurs while preserving existing airresources, the Division for Air Quality issues permits that contain all applicable requirements to theseimportant manufacturing facilities.
We currently have an opening for an Environmental Engineer Supervisor. This position is in the MetallurgySection of the Permit Review Branch, which issues permits for primary, secondary, and miscellaneous metalproduction (copper smelting, iron foundries, steel industry, aluminum, etc.) and landfills.
We are looking for someone who is a detail oriented and independent worker, but still enjoys working as partof a collaborative team. The preferred candidate will have time management and decision-making skills, as wellas excellent verbal and written communication skills. This position will provide you with the opportunity towork across branches within the Division and with the regulated community.
Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Supervises and assign permit applications and other engineering projects to section employees;
- Reviews permit packages for accuracy and tracks progress of permit applications;
- Represents Branch as a professional engineer in hearings/conferences;
- Assists permit reviewers in evaluating permit applications;
- Prepares performance evaluations for employees

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION:See Special Requirements.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:Must have two years of engineering experience in addition to that required for licensure as a professional engineer.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:A master's degree in engineering will substitute for one year of the required experience. Graduate work in engineering beyond a master's degree will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION:NONE
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.):Must be licensed as a professional engineer by the Kentucky Board of Engineers and Land Surveyors.

Working Conditions
Work is performed in the office and in the field. Will be exposed to risks inherent to construction sites.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
