About the positionThis is a great first job opportunity for teens looking to gain experience in customer service and operations at a busy outdoor water park. Workers will be assigned to one of two roles:
Deck Crew: Keep the park clean and welcoming by maintaining picnic tables, concession areas, and other public spaces.
Pool Monitor: Help with crowd control on the pool deck and in locker rooms while keeping the area clean and safe.
Both positions involve light custodial and maintenance work. Pool Monitors may have the opportunity to train as a lifeguard in future summers!
Work Schedule- Work 10 - 40 hours per week
- Season runs from May - September 2024
- Must be able to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
Duties and ResponsibilitiesDeck Crew responsibilities:
- Keep concession deck and tables clean and free of trash.
- Spot clean each table after each use.
- Use deck hose on spills to maintain a clean area.
- Ensure trash receptacles are available and change bags when full (maintenance will take bags to the dumpster).
Rotate condiments every two hours and keep napkin holders full.
- Pick-up all trash in and around concession deck area, around skate park, parking lots, entrance, picnic areas and facilities.
- Report any maintenance issues, damage, or graffiti to front desk staff.
- Assist with park plantings, grounds maintenance and garden weeding when needed.
Pool Monitor responsibilities:
- Assist with crowd control on pool deck and locker rooms.
- Pick up trash and check for maintenance or safety issues.
- Perform custodial tasks to keep the pool and locker rooms clean.• Set up and take down tubes, umbrellas, deck chairs and other related items daily.
- Maintain lost and found articles and items.
Minimum Qualifications- Must be able to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Positive attitude and ability to work independently.
- Reliable and dedicated to showing up and doing a good job.
- Comfortable working outdoors in different weather conditions.
- Willing to perform light custodial and janitorial tasks.
- Self-motivated to provide great service.
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
- Able to work well with a team and communicate professionally with the public.
- Previous work or volunteer experience is a plus, but not required-a good reference from a teacher, coach, or mentor can help!
Desired Qualifications - Demonstrated cultural competence and comfort with supporting the city's strategic objectives for advancing racial equity.
