Amazon's Corporate Environment, Health and Safety, and Sustainability (EHSS) team seeks a dynamic Environmental Program Manager to help drive and enhance our global corporate office environmental programs. This role combines high-level program development with hands-on implementation to advance Amazon's environmental initiatives worldwide.
Working across all organizational levels, this role designs and implements environmental programs that exceed industry standards while managing operational environmental risks, including compliance, waste management, and resource conservation across global facilities. The position champions environmental responsibility through stakeholder engagement and leads sustainable practice integration across operations, driving innovative solutions to meet environmental commitments.

Key job responsibilities
• Manage Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA) compliance activities throughout the United States (mainly Washington, California, New York, Texas, Virginia, and Massachusetts), including hazardous chemical inventory reporting (Tier II), emergency release notifications, and coordination with local emergency planning committees (LEPCs) to ensure community safety and regulatory compliance
• Manage the corporate office hazardous waste program, ensuring compliance with all applicable Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) regulations, including waste identification, accumulation, storage, disposal, manifesting, and reporting
• Manage the Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) compliance through effective management of contractors responsible for plan development, inspections, and maintenance, ensuring all work meets regulatory requirements and Amazon standards
• Collect and record necessary environmental data systematically ensuring accuracy and completeness
• Develop environmental metrics to measure, monitor and forecast performance
• Conduct thorough and accurate environmental audits for continuous improvement
• Manage and oversee compliance with local and federal environmental regulations and Amazon policy
• Complete thorough and accurate environmental incident investigations and associated regulatory reports and develop appropriate corrective action
• Lead regulatory agency interactions and permit processes while supporting ESG initiatives
• Engage proactively with senior leadership to identify risks and develop mitigation strategies, maintaining expertise to advise on emerging trends and regulations
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's degree in environmental science, engineering, chemistry, or a related field
• 3+ years' experience in environmental compliance
• Solid understanding of federal and state environmental regulations related to EPCRA, RCRA, and SPCC. This includes knowledge of reporting requirements, waste handling procedures, and spill prevention measures
• Experience serving as an environmental technical resource, program specialist, or program manager
• 3+ years' experience with tools such as: Microsoft Office, Excel, Tableau, etc.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Advanced degree in environmental science, engineering, chemistry, or a related field
• Direct experience in hazardous waste management, EPCRA reporting (including Tier II reporting), and SPCC regulations
• Certifications such as Registered Environmental Manager (REM), or similar credentials are highly desirable
• Organizational and project management skills
• Ability to identify and resolve environmental compliance issues effectively
• Experience conducting environmental audits and implementing corrective actions
• Experience leading change in multiple site environments and the ability to influence those that are not direct reports or within your organization
