Internship Job Description: We are seeking a dedicated and detail-driven student to become a part of our team. As a Water Resources Engineering (WRE) Geomatics Intern, you will contribute significantly to our projects by engaging in surveying, data collection, analysis, and mapping activities. Additionally, you will support the preparation and evaluation of plans, designs, and technical reports for a variety of geospatial initiatives.
This internship offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic work environment while contributing to meaningful projects in the fields of geomatics, civil engineering, and GIS.
Requirements:Pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering/Geomatics or related field
Good knowledge of safety rules/regulations/procedures
Good Knowledge of methods, practices, and materials used in trades
Knowledge of survey work
Working knowledge of GIS, engineering and drafting
Ability to read/interpret engineering plans, drawings, sketches, etc.
Ability to use GPS equipment to collect asset data within the Water/Wastewater system
Excellent communication skills
Organizational skills
Problem solving skills
Project Outline: The WRE Geomatics Intern will work closely with the survey crew and GIS team to support field data collection efforts for various water and wastewater assets. This role includes ensuring the accuracy and precision of collected data, providing general assistance to the survey crew, and collaborating with the GIS team to attribute and locate assets effectively.
Eligibility Requirements: - Applicant must be currently enrolled as a full-time college student
- Applicant is required to submit a transcript indicating his/her field of study
- Applicant must have three (3) years of driving experience (if required to drive PWC vehicles)
- Applicant is eligible to be hired in a job related to his/her field of study (i.e., the student should not be hired as a clerical person for the summer unless that is his/her field of study)
Pay Scale: - 1st Year of College completed: $15.00
- 2nd Year of College completed: $16.00
- 3rd Year of College completed: $17.00
