The ideal candidate will support the Project team through as Project phases, Engineering, construction, start up, and operation with environmental compliance management, development of work instructions and procedures for environmental pollution control equipment, and identification and execution of regulatory strategies that bring the most value to AM while satisfying stakeholders expecting an environmentally responsible production.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING: - Project primary environmental focal point for air, stormwater, wastewater, solid waste, US Corps of Engineers permitting
- Coordinate permitting elements with operations, project management, consultants, and regulatory agencies
- Effectively communicate and implement regulatory requirements and permit conditions
- Prepare, review, and submit required external and internal reports
- Perform monitoring and inspection of construction contractors for environmental related compliance with the contractor'senvironmental management plan
- Develop and obtain variances or alternative operating conditions to protect site from enforcement actions
- Investigate environmental incidents using causal learning and root cause failure analysis to implement corrective actions
- Lead or participate in continuous engineering development, ensuring that all environmental requirements and permits will be in place when necessary.
- Report deviations or exceedances to applicable regulatory agencies as required by permits or other applicable requirements
- Evaluate and identify federal, state, and local environmental compliance issues
- Lead the air emission stack testing with the support of the environmental team
- Provide data & information to the environmental team for external communications
- Communicate with procurement and OEMs to ensure optimal pollution control equipment is acquired for the steelmaking mill
- Develop a plant operator's environmental handbook and train operators and staff, as needed
WHAT WILL YOU NEED: - B.S. in Engineering (Chemical, Environmental, Civil or Mechanical), Environment Management, Chemistry, Biology or other related field, or combination of post-secondary education and related experience
- A minimum of 7+ years' experience interpreting environmental standards, rules and regulations, and how they are related to the organizations processes, facilities, and equipment
- Experience required with environmental compliance of greenfield construction activities (preferable knowledge with Texas requirements) , such as; construction, stormwater, and managing contractor compliance with environmental regulations
- Experience interpreting standards, rules, and regulations, to include EPA, ADEM, USACE, DOT required
- Experience working on a diverse set of environmental permitting projects including air quality, water quality, and waste management
- Broad understanding of commonly employed engineering principles, environmental and safety requirements, and familiarity in working with local, state, and federal agencies
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Preferred requirements: - SAP knowledge preferred.
- Experience with DRI and CCS operations preferred
- Experience with ISO-14001 auditing preferred.

Days, Monday to Friday with extended hours as required due to periods of peak workloads
