Role description:Arcadis is seeking an experienced Senior Ecologist to join our Upper Midwest Enviro Socio Permitting team. The successful candidate will lead and oversee technical project teams to support a variety of environmental permitting and planning projects from a range of sectors such as oil and gas, renewable energies, rail, and linear utilities. This role requires expertise with environmental permitting; stream/wetland determination/delineation methods; threatened and endangered species consultations; and evaluating ecological systems/natural resources in the Upper Midwest. Projects are often fast-paced, multi-faceted, and geographically diverse. The position will require a candidate to work collaboratively with a diverse team and have the capacity to balance varying priorities and tasks to manage multiple projects concurrently and meet client deadlines. Arcadis offers a flexible working environment and follows a hybrid work structure. A successful candidate can expect to work remotely and from the office, as needed, based on demands of specific tasks and teams.

Role accountabilities: - As a Senior Ecologist, you will lead project teams in assessing ecological conditions at project sites related to wetland and waterbody delineations, habitat assessments, and endangered species surveys. As such, it is expected that you have significant understanding of natural resources and ecological communities in Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota, and Michigan. Experience leading wetland and waterbody delineations and habitat assessments is required. This position will require completion of field work (approximately 25%, overnight travel will be required)
- Additionally, you will support project teams with developing permitting strategies and coordinating with clients to ensure successful project outcomes. Therefore, it is expected that you have demonstrated experience with federal laws and regulations, including the Clean Water Act and the Endangered Species Act, and an understanding of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). The ideal candidate would also be familiar with state regulations in Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota, and Michigan. Additionally, you will provide senior level quality assurance/quality control for client deliverables, including agency consultations and permit applications
- You will also be responsible for assisting with proposal opportunities, including scope and cost development. This role will also include supporting the growth of new and existing client relationships

Required qualifications for the role include:
- Bachelor's degree in environmental science, biology, ecology, or similar environmental discipline
- 10+ years of experience in assessing natural resources in the Upper Midwest, including the ability to lead wetland and waterbody delineations.
- Experience in leading environmental permit applications at federal, state, and local level. Experience with Sections 401 and 404 of the Clean Water Act and the Endangered Species Act
- Experience leading teams and working in collaboration with environmental scientists, engineers, archaeologists, and other specialists in developing environmental documents for environmental projects

We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $97,600 - $146,600. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
