JOB SUMMARY The Environmental Health and Safety Engineer will support all aspects of regulator and OSHA compliance, support the engineering team with design and safety, and perform lab analysis and sampling. This position requires strong problem solving ability and communication skills.
WHAT YOU'LL DO - Maintain and review EHS programs and keep them updated as daily tasks and procedures change.
- Maintain a knowledge of applicable state and federal regulations.
- Provide training for employees on safety policies and practices.
- Perform risk assessments and make modifications on daily procedures as needed to ensure a safe work environment.
- Conduct health, safety and environmental compliance inspections and document corrective actions.
- Maintain knowledge of the SCWO system to help facilitate runs and advise on engineering controls and parameter changes.
- Ensure various feedstocks have Standard Operating Procedures to prioritize safety and environmental compliance.
- Prepare environmental compliance reports and permits as needed.
- Participate in meetings to communicate issues, resolve problems and collaborate on system changes.
- Monitor emission sensors and troubleshoot equipment as needed.
- Analyze and correlate scientific and engineering data for compliance and emission control.
- Willingness to travel to various contracted sites as needed to assess safety and compliance needs.
- Other duties as assigned.
WHO YOU ARE Qualifications, Experience and Skills - BS degree in Chemical or Environmental Engineering or similar
- 3+yrs experience in water/wastewater industry or similar
- 3+yrs experience working in EHS, risk assessment, state and federal regulations and permitting
- 3+yrs experience writing SOP's and safety plans
- 3+yrs experience OSHA/Hazwoper
Additional Preferred Skills:- Experience working in a fast-paced environment with multiple, tight deadlines
- EIT certification preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS - This position requires using hands to troubleshoot equipment, close vision, and dexterity with fingers
- This position requires an individual to sit for long periods of time, stand, and move about the facility
