Schneider Electric has an outstanding opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to assume the role of a Controls Engineer at our West Chester, OH location.
Overview The Controls Engineer is responsible for the design of the controls system of the Modular Data Center solution. The Controls Engineer's role includes coordinating and preparing all controls and communications technical documentation according to customer requirements within the defined schedule while adhering to defined quality standards. As part of the engineering team, the Controls Engineer will be working closely with Project Managers, Technical Leaders, and other Subject Matter Experts. This position is responsible for all controls documentation throughout the execution phase of the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities - Review and design all aspects of control systems to meet customer scope.
- Responsible for designing solutions to meet intended Sequence of Operations.
- Own, maintain, and approve all electrical schematics and wiring diagrams that capture the integration requirements for all major equipment in the modular data center solution.
- Participate in customer meetings to discuss design requirements and constraints.
- Develop controls solutions capable of integrating equipment of various vendors.
- Document changes and updates to ensure proper revision control.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define sensor, network, and redundancy requirements.
- Ensure that components and assemblies meet national and international standards.
- Develop Bill of Material for controls related components of the system design.
- Ensure compliance with applicable internal processes and design reviews.
- Provide controls support to factory production personnel and site integration teams by answering Requests for Information and onsite support as needed.
- Provide input to the project lessons learned processes.
- Occasional travel, up to 15%.

- B.S. in Electrical Engineering (ABET accredited preferred)
Preferred Experience - 3+ years of work experience.
- Proven experience in control system design and implementation within the data center industry.
- Experience in designing and/or troubleshooting systems integration solutions for LV and MV distribution systems.
- Proficiency in interpreting and applying UL standards for industrial control panels.
- Experience in designing electrical control panels in accordance with UL508A.
- Able to program Automatic Transfer Scheme and Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning controllers.
- Knowledge and familiarity of Building Management System and Electrical Power Monitoring System designs.
- Functional knowledge using Autodesk REVIT, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Windchill, and Bluebeam.
Skills - Fluent in reading and proficient in developing electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Solid foundation in controls theory and understanding of ladder logic drawings.
- Strong understanding of electrical/mechanical systems integration and redundancy systems.
- Familiarity with various equipment including: uninterruptible power supplies, electrical switchboards, switchgear, power distribution units, and automatic/static transfer switches.
- Familiar with National Electric Code requirements for mission critical power systems.
- Familiarity with common distribution level protection and control schemes.
- Experience working with various types of controls equipment (e.g., Power meters, control switches, test switches, relays, etc.).
- Exposure to various communication protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, Modbus, DNP3, BACnet, etc.).
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to translate complex technical details to various project stakeholders in clear verbal and written form.
- Capable of liaising with subcontractors and outside specialists to ensure seamless collaboration and effective project execution.
- Ability to collaborate with other team members, Technical Leaders, contractors/vendors and consultants to resolve technical issues and ensure the quality and integrity of designs.
- Desire to innovate. Optimizing designs in compliance with relevant regulatory codes, standards and best practices.
- Ability to fluently communicate in verbal and written English.
