Summary This requisition expires on November 21, 2024, but may close earlier if the position is filled prior to the expiration date.Support and coordinate with DME leadership in management of the DME power supply functions including power supply and renewable energy strategic planning. Oversee, evaluate, and provide corrective action to DME leadership on power supply risks, compliance and/or non-compliance with hedge plans as well as market and power supply position changes. Assist DME leadership with establishing regulatory and legislative strategies; provide guidance to the Administrator of Regulatory Affairs on ERCOT actions regarding potential impact to DME.

DUTIES- Oversee the development of new DME power purchase/sale contracts.
- Oversee administration of existing power resource purchase/sale contracts; maintain Denton Renewable Resource Plan and/or Integrated Resource Plans and ensure they remain current and aligned with DME goals and objects.
- Review, update and administer DME's Energy Risk Management Policy and Hedge Plan, as appropriate.
- Develop energy supply offers to prospective DME customers that fall outside of DME standard tariff rates.
- Develop relationships with existing and potential energy trading counterparties.
- Manage fuel supply to the Denton Energy Center.
- Manage all front office ERCOT QSE functions performed by DME including Congestion Revenue Rights and Point to Point transactions, and the SCADA Generation Management System and the Energy Management Data Systems.
- Execute effective management of DME's energy portfolio (electric, gas, financial hedges, REC's and CRR's) through oversight of the Energy Management Organization (EMO) and execution of the utility's Energy Risk Management Policy (ERMP).
- Monitor power supply related activities of regulatory authorities and legislative bodies; direct DME's participation in those processes, as appropriate and/or directed.
- Prepare concise letters, reports and presentations to internal and external stakeholders effectively communicating power supply related matters, including agenda items, ordinances and resolutions as needed to inform and/or obtain approvals.
- Routinely presents power supply and commodity risk matters to the Risk Management Committee, PUB, City Council and the City Manager's Office.
- Understands and follows all City protocols and policies.
- Serve as acting Assistant General Manager, as appropriate and/or directed.
SUPERVISORY/BUDGET RESPONSIBILITIES- Select, train, supervise, and evaluate staff; recommend assignment/assignment change, retention, discipline, and dismissal.
- Develop, manage, and monitor budget; maintain accurate budget reporting; ensure that operations are cost-effective, and funds are managed wisely; use competent software model and database incorporating electric load profiles, available power supply resources, market prices and transmission congestion forecasts to include preparation of sensitivity cases and actual versus budget comparisons.

Job Requirements EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business, Accounting, Finance, Engineering Technology, or related field; and,
- Eight (8) years' experience directly related to management of electric utility power supply in the energy service or utility industry; and,
- Four (4) years' experience in direct supervision of energy commodity trading personnel; and,
- Two (2) years' experience using or administering Energy Trading and Risk Management systems,
OR
- Master's Degree in Engineering, Business, Accounting, Finance, Engineering Technology, or related field; and,
- Six (6) years' experience directly related to management of electric utility power supply in the energy service or utility industry OR a CPA may be substituted for three (3) years of related work experience but does not substitute for supervisory experience; and,
- Four (4) years' experience in direct supervision of energy commodity trading personnel; and,
- Two (2) years' experience using or administering Energy Trading and Risk Management systems,

- Any combination of related education, experience, certifications, and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job.
