The Tesla Energy Design Engineering Team is looking for a passionate and collaborative Process and Field Applications Engineering Manager to lead the Field Applications team in testing, developing, and implementing new and existing solar hardware products.
This team is an integral part of ensuring Tesla's solar products are simple to install, aesthetically superior, and cost efficient to make. A key part of their role is translating the voice of the users into the designs of the products so that they are intuitive to use. The leader of this team will be responsible for identifying the areas of focus, orchestrating the execution, and communicating the team's findings to Energy leadership.
This position is well suited for seasoned managers or staff level candidates who want to take the next step and magnify their impact on accelerating the transition to the sustainable energy - this role has a mandate to identify, define and drive tangible change through the organization. As a thought leader within the team, you will be enabled to work across the organization to solve problems and ensure the success of our products working alongside Energy Operations, Design, Manufacturing, Service and Quality teams.

Responsibilities - Manage and develop a team of Field Applications Engineers and/or Process Engineers
- Receive overall team goal roadmap and translate into tangible projects with little direction
- Prioritize incoming testing requests balancing internal resources with short term and long-term goals
- Understand product and operational pain points, proactively driving changes within the process or through the product design to mitigate
- Collaborate with cross functional team members and field installation teams to identify and prioritize process improvement opportunities
- Identify and implement new processes and procedures to support business growth and expansion
- Analyze data to identify trends and opportunities for product improvement and for comparing prototypes, concisely summarizing to drive decision-making amongst leadership
- Collaborate with the Operations team to ensure seamless execution of new processes and procedures during pilot phase of new products
- Lead and drive the installation PFMEA review process for new products
- Organize and lead open-ended brainstorming sessions for new products with ambiguous requirements
Requirements - Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical, or related field), or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of experience in process engineering, operations, or a related field
- 2+ years of experience in a leadership or management role
- Experience in the solar industry or a related field (e.g., construction, manufacturing)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and project management skills
- Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Tableau, Power BI)
- Experience with process improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma)
- Experience with SQL for data querying and analysis
- Experience with solar installation processes and technologies

$144,000 - $216,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
