About the Position: • Manages activities for the division that include the development and drafting of environmental permits.• Manages activities for the division that include effective and appropriate enforcement actions.• Assists in the management of the Clean Water State Revolving Program.• Assists in the management of the Wastewater Operators training program.• Develops and manages strategic plans and budgets for the division.• Assist in the management of applicable federal grants.• Provide technical assistance to MDEQ's stakeholders.• Ensure adequate opportunities for staff training.
What you'll need to be Successful: This candidate should have technical knowledge of municipal and/or commercial wastewater collection and treatment systems. Candidate must have excellent communication skills to effectively communicate with senior management, consultants, program staff and contractors. The candidate needs to be able to adapt quickly to situations, identify problems and propose solutions. The candidate should have the ability to embrace new ideas and effectively use adaptive management to prioritize work and respond to needs of the program.
Preferred Qualifications: Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree, a valid certificate of registration as a Professional Engineer from the Mississippi State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors, 7+ years of engineering experience, and 1-2 years of supervisory experience.
