Michigan Millers is seeking a Claims Manager to join our Casualty team in our Lansing office; will also consider remote candidates who are willing to travel to the Lansing, MI office periodically.
The individual in this role will oversee the administration of commercial casualty claims activities for assigned unit to include meeting expected service levels with policy holders/agents and maintain appropriate records/documentation. They will provide daily management to assigned team through staffing, performance management, training, and development.
Responsibilities of a Casualty Claims Manager include:
Coach, direct, and develop individuals to achieve individual, departmental, and company goals
Accountable for team performance and results
Ensure the assigned unit provides prompt and courteous claims service and complies with sound claims handling techniques in accordance with established claims standards, service levels, and quality standards
Monitor, oversee, and audit to ensure claims are handled in compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements. Take prompt action to resolve all complaints/discrepancies. Inform management of any significant issues that may escalate and require a higher level of attention
Manage the workload of assigned unit to ensure claims processing is distributed equitably across all team members and that pending claims are attended to in a timely manner
Perform special projects and other duties as assigned
Requirements:
What is a must-have?
Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with all levels of claims complexity related to commercial bodily injury liability claims processing and case management
Demonstrated and in-depth knowledge of applicable state laws, regulations, policies, and practices
Able to multitask and solve complex problems
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in lieu of degree acceptable
Preferred Skills
Prior supervisory/management experience with demonstrated ability to coach, direct, and develop individuals
CPCU or comparable industry certification is strongly preferred
Compensation Overview:
The targeted hiring range for this role is $110,000 - $120,000. However, the base pay offered may vary depending on the job-related knowledge, skills, credentials, and experience of each candidate as well as other factors such as the scope and location of the role. Candidates looking for compensation outside of the posted range are encouraged to apply and will be considered based on their individual qualifications and/or may be considered for other positions.
