Purpose/IntroductionThis position provides daily support to the Conroe Drilling Specialties Plant operations and provides strategic support for projects affecting plant air permits, water permits, waste management and other environmental requirements. The successful candidate will work closely with Operations, Maintenance, Utilities, and Management. This position will report to the Plant EHS&S Superintendent.
Responsibilities - Support plant Sustainability efforts, with emphasis on water and energy efficiency.
- Develop, implement, and manage all aspects of the Conroe Plant's environmental programs, policies, and procedures for each environmental media (air, water / wastewater, solid/liquid waste, etc.).
- Develop and execute air permitting strategies that support Plant project plans.
- Support day-to-day operations and provide environmental training to plant personnel as needed.
- Identifying process improvement opportunities which impact plant environmental performance.
- Collecting and analyzing process data to assure environmental compliance.
- Develop and submit all required environmental compliance documentation.
- Providing expertise on changes requiring Management of Change.
- Interfacing with CPChem and contractor engineering personnel on capital/expense projects.
- Work with regulatory agencies with respect to audits, investigations, emission events and other enforcement matters.
- Work with contractor personnel to manage required changes to plant permits.
- Developing, evaluating, and implementing corrective actions for PHA recommendations, audit findings, and incident investigation recommendations.
- Manage applicable compliance assurance activities needed to ensure plant compliance with OE Standards, plant permits and other environmental regulatory requirements.
- Manage small capital projects, expense projects, and facility initiatives as deemed necessary by plant management.
- Facilitate and support incident investigations, including preparing release calculations.
- Conduct plant training on environmental systems and programs (annual refresher & new hires).
- Manage Tier II inventory & reporting, SPCC plan, SWPPP plan, LDAR program, chemical management and Hazard Communication in coordination with plant Safety staff.
Required Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in engineering, Environmental Science, or related field of study with a minimum of 2 years related experience
- Self-motivated (operating with minimal day-to-day work direction) with good presentation, writing, planning, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Communicate effectively at all levels in the organization
- Experience with demonstrating handling multiple tasks/efforts while meeting deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Preferred Qualifications - Soltex experience
- Experience with State and Federal environmental regulations
- Environmental technician experience
- Exposure and work involvement to air permits, SPCC plans, SWPP plans, LDAR, Water permits, ODS / refrigerants management, and Waste Management requirements
