Role Summary and Purpose Reporting directly to the Vice President, Power Products Business Unit, you will be responsible for working closely with engineering to help develop next-generation power relay products, utilizing our proprietary Ideal Switch technology. You will also be providing key technical support to lead customers and partners, and work with the sales and marketing team to define the power relay roadmap, promote and advocate for Menlo Micro’s products and grow the business. This is a critical position for Menlo Micro’s power team. You will serve as both a hands-on applications engineer working on validating our latest designs, and a technical expert and sales support guru influencing at the customer level. You will spend time on the front lines with clients collecting feedback and designing solutions to meet their requirements. You will spend time in the lab developing prototypes. Your work will be highly visible within Menlo Micro, and to our investors. You will work in a fast-paced, innovative team environment, working with all functions of the Menlo Micro team from product development, to sales, to test and marketing. Responsibilities: Work with marketing, sales, and customers during the evaluation of Menlo Micro’s products in order to resolve any technical issues and drive design-in/design-win activities. Understand customers' specifications, application requirements and recommend the right solutions and provide technical product support. Gather market, commercial and technical information to justify new product line additions. Build and maintain strong business relationships with customers to drive/increase sales and ensure an exceptional customer experience solving customer challenges. Work with sales to assist in developing the pipeline for future sales activity through regular interactions with customers. Present technology concepts to customers/partners in support of pre-sales activities. Make periodic customer visits to assess customer needs and provide key support to sales and other partners. Create presentations to demonstrate innovative designs, document performance, and communicate architecture ideas and capabilities. Provide technical support to internal and external customers for Menlo Micro’s power relay products. Participate in technical seminars, trade shows, driving the thought leadership and technical merits of the company’s power relay solutions. Architect, design, simulate, layout, test, and troubleshoot power relay-based product demonstrations for a broad array of industrial controls markets. Perform simulations as necessary to support customer requests and recommend solutions that help with product selection and adoption. Work with design engineers to create supporting documents such as datasheets and application notes. Work with marketing, engineering and customers to ensure that new products are market leaders that provide clear system-level differentiation. Qualifications & Requirements: This role requires a strong mix of technical skills to work on disruptive power management and controls solutions developed with Menlo Micro’s Ideal Switch technology, as well as power electronics market knowledge and applications use case understanding, in order to work with sales and customers to define and deploy disruptive products to the market. The ideal candidate will have experience with power electronics architectures and/or industrial controls applications. To be a strong fit for the role you will have: A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (BSEE) with minimum 10 years demonstrated experience in Power Systems or Industrial Controls. Knowledge and technical design and/or test skills for power systems relating to industrial markets up to 1kV and 50A, both AC and DC solutions. Experience with power relays, either designing power relays, designing systems, incorporating power relays, or supporting customers and applications that use power relays. Experience working with customers in one or more of the following markets: automotive, industrial automation, home automation, renewable energy, transmission and distribution. Strong communication skills to influence senior engineering managers on issues that may have major financial and business implications. Good organization skills with the flexibility to handle multiple tasks and set priorities to meet goals in a fast-paced, fast-growing start-up environment. Experience in a global environment interfacing with many cultures and languages. The ability to build effective relationships and influence outcomes. Proficient use of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), Visio software, power system design software. Innovative strategic planning skills, ability to assess and manage risks, and translate corporate and business unit goals and objectives into realistic marketing and sales plans. Work authorization that allows you to work in the United States. Ability to travel up to 25 domestically and internationally. Desired Characteristics: An EE or equivalent engineering degree with a master’s or higher Engineering degree and 10 years of relevant experience. Knowledge of industry codes and standards; ANSI, IEEE, IEC, NEC, NEMA, NFPA 70E, UL. Papers submitted and presented for industry groups would be a plus. Knowledge and technical design and/or test skills for power systems relating to MV and LV switchgear, motors, and overall power systems products 5 years minimum experience.
