Position Summary We are currently looking for midlevel associates with project development and finance experience to join our Energy, Infrastructure, Project and Asset Finance practice. You should have strong academic credentials as well as a genuine interest in project financings and acquisitions and divestitures of infrastructure in the renewable and alternative energy sector. As an associate, you will handle a significant amount of cutting-edge project finance work, including debt, equity, and tax monetization financings, restructurings, acquisitions, divestitures, and joint ventures in the energy transition market. Duties and Accountabilities Managing deal teams and processes across practice areas and geographic locations. Conducting brief or more complex research, or drafting of memoranda, depending on client needs. Managing and conducting due diligence. Serving as primary point of contact for clients, opposing counsel, and other transactional legal teams. Exercising good judgment in internal and external written and verbal communications. Providing direct assistance to senior lawyers on matters arising in the course of day-to-day provision of legal services to leading international and domestic clients. Counseling clients on a wide range of financing transactions, including asset-based finance, leveraged finance, acquisition finance, and other project finance transactions. Advising private equity funds, financial institutions, and borrowers on the financing, development, and restructuring of renewable energy facilities and other clean technology assets. Mentoring and training of junior team members and attendance at, and participation in, continuing education classes and client development initiatives. Qualifications A Juris Doctor (JD) degree (LLM or foreign equivalent) from an accredited law school required. At least four years of law firm or in-house project finance experience, with a focus on renewable energy investment. Licensed, or eligible to become licensed, to practice law in New York or Illinois. Strong academic record and intellectual curiosity, creative thinker. Commercial and business awareness. Outstanding communication and negotiation skills. Strong time management skills, ability to stay calm under pressure when juggling multiple projects. Excellent drafting skills. Ambitious and driven by professional growth.
