About the Position: GPTech is seeking a Energy Engineer/Project Manager to lead the Energy and Climate Advisory Services contract with the Unites States Trade and Development Agency (USTDA). The Energy Engineer/PM will lead project delivery and management services to respond to a variety of tasks to be assigned by USTDA, primarily related to climate mitigation, adaptation, and resiliency or clean energy, including renewable power generation and power transmission and distribution. Tasks may include providing technical subject matter expertise, conducting research and outreach related to new or emerging technologies, providing expert opinions and recommendations on project concepts under USTDA’s consideration (i.e., helping to evaluate project proposals at a pre-feasibility stage), providing input and analysis during USTDA’s development of Terms of Reference and budgets for project concepts, and providing technical advice during the ongoing monitoring and the close-outs of USTDA programs. This position will follow USTDA’s hybrid work schedule. Currently the requirement is two days in the office per week. The position will also involve occasional travel to support USTDA at technical conferences and trade shows. Please note: USTDA’s hybrid policy is subject to change. Responsibilities: Lead technical analysis tasks related to climate mitigation, adaptation, and resiliency or clean energy as the “Climate Engineer” Serve as a project manager including managing budgets, status reports, and recruitment of technical subject matter experts as needed Take accountability for relevant project processes, including contractual quality assurance, control, and compliance Prepare reports and present briefings on assigned projects as directed by USTDA Engage in meetings with USTDA project stakeholders as needed, including, but not limited to, project sponsors/grantees, contractors, U.S. companies, U.S. government partners, multilateral institutions, and financiers Support USTDA’s participation in conferences related to climate change, clean energy, and new and emerging technologies Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the policies and guidelines of U.S. government and project financiers as well as market trends and industry developments related to new and emerging climate and energy technologies. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or physical science Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET clearance 3 plus years of demonstrated experience managing contracts and/or teams similar in size, scope, and complexity to this contract 7 plus years of project specific technical experience relevant to the type of infrastructure work that USTDA supports. This includes experience relative to: Project preparation (pre-feasibility, feasibility, technical assistance, design, procurement, etc.) Project development, construction, maintenance and operation Analysis and writing technical documents for non-technical personnel use and understanding; and Experience in USTDA eligible regions and/or countries Ability to travel up to 10 percent Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills in U.S. English Excellent organizational and document management skills U.S. Citizenship required Preferred Qualifications: Certified Energy Manager or Certified Renewable Energy Professional as recognized by the American Association of Energy Engineers Professional Engineer license Experience with providing technical, analytic, business review support for energy projects or programs in developing countries Experience and knowledge covering a wide range of clean energy technologies, climate adaptation strategies, and new and emerging technologies, such as, but not limited to, solar, wind, geothermal, biomass, hydropower, waste-to-energy, biofuels, biogas, civil nuclear, power transmission, power distribution and mini-grids, energy efficiency, meteorology, emergency response planning, smart grid, carbon capture and storage, methane abatement, energy storage, green hydrogen, and electric vehicles Knowledge of and experience working with federal organizations, federal energy policies and mandates, and energy management strategies and goals Experience in organizational leadership, management, and technical services business development Proficiency in a language other than English, especially Spanish, French, or Portuguese Thank you for applying and for your interest in Green Powered Technology.
