Job Description Summary of Position A Maintenance Technician I is responsible for performing preventative maintenance and repairing production equipment as required, while working with the senior members of the team to complete electrical and mechanical projects. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform preventative/predictive maintenance to all production equipment as required. Work side-by-side with experienced technician during equipment repair and learn smart/safe work practices. Complete small electrical and mechanical projects based on direction given from Team Lead/ Supervisor. Demonstrate safe work practices and follow company safety policies, procedures, and regulations at all times. Ensure compliance with all Company policies. Maintain personal compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and recommend measures to improve health and safety. Work within a team environment and interact with all areas of production effectively. Repair and replace electrical/hydraulic/pneumatic and electronic components such as motors, contractors, relays, timers, types of switches, PLCs, light curtains, motor controls, and valves under direction of Team Lead/ Supervisor. Recognize and diagnose faults on electrical equipment or systems, which may involve complex interlocking, interrelated circuits, integrated systems, and complex sequencing. Examine, install, replace and repair electronic wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, cable assemblies, lighting fixtures, and other electrical components. Maintain production equipment to maximize operating performance and assist with maintaining electrical spare parts’ inventory levels. Perform repairs on equipment to restore them to proper and safe work conditions under direction of Team Lead/ Supervisor. Perform installation, set up, modification and relocation of equipment to accommodate or improve production requirements. Read electrical and electronic schematics/diagrams, basic hydraulic and pneumatic diagrams. Test electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage, and resistance. Ensure production schedule is not jeopardized due to machine breakdown or unsafe operating conditions and inform Team Lead/Supervisor about changes in electric circuits and update original diagrams. Always follow LOCK OUT/TAG OUT procedure on unsafe machines/machines being serviced. Adhere to work orders, preventive/predictive maintenance systems by filling in required forms. Qualifications Skills Troubleshooting experience with electrical & mechanical equipment, PLC systems, Robots, AC drives, DC drives, servo drives, motion control, HMI interface, motor controls, safety sensors, and relays. Able to read wiring diagrams, electrical/mechanical/pneumatic/hydraulic schematics and ladder/function block logic. Theoretical knowledge of industrial PCs and PLCs (Siemens Step 7, Beckhoff TwinCat, etc.) and electric circuitry consisting of contractors, relays, main voltage/control voltage, limit switches, and proximity sensors. Knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Systems (CMMS) is an asset. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with cross-functional team members. Mechanical aptitude/interest. Excellent inter-personal and communication skills. Team-oriented. High degree of attention to detail, precision and follow through. Willing and able to work rotating shifts. Be able to conceive and manage small projects. Education and/or Experience Minimum 2 years of experience with strong problem-solving skills. Preferred: At least 2 years of experience in a fast-paced manufacturing/industrial environment with multiple priorities.
