We are seeking an experienced Metallurgical/Materials engineer for our rapidly growing Materials Engineering Practice. The practice provides full-spectrum materials engineering support to companies around the world including materials selection, fabrication, corrosion engineering, welding, fitness for service evaluations, and failure analysis. Much of our work involves upstream and offshore oil and gas facilities, midstream pipelines, downstream refining and chemical plants, renewable energy sources and the aerospace industry. This position is onsite. Responsibilities The successful candidate must have a working knowledge of materials, manufacturing and fabrication methods, and industry standards that are applicable to the equipment and systems in a wide variety of industries. The candidate should be able to interface with clients, prepare technical proposals and reports, and work either individually or on a team. He/she will be able to independently establish and implement requirements for materials selection and evaluation, manufacturing or fabrication, welding and inspection of equipment consistent with the basis of design or similar project requirements. Additionally, he/she must also be able to identify materials degradation mechanisms for equipment and systems based upon process conditions and test data. Finally, he/she must also be able to help clients establish and implement inspection and testing methods to ensure the mechanical integrity and performance of upstream, midstream, and downstream facilities. The successful candidate must have the desire to build a successful engineering practice in a dynamic, work-oriented environment. He/she will possess excellent communications skills (both written and verbal) and should be able to work individually and on project teams. Mentoring and development of younger engineers will be a priority. Qualifications MS or Ph.D. in Metallurgical/Materials Engineering from an ABET accredited University with a strong background in ferrous metallurgy 10 years of experience in metallurgical engineering related to the energy or aerospace industry Strong verbal and written communication and organizational skills Ability to work productively in a cross-functional team Ability and willingness to regularly handle a diverse and dynamic set of challenges to solve critical and time-sensitive issues Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative A registered professional engineer (PE) or the ability to become registered. A detailed working knowledge of applicable industry standards and codes such as API 6A, API 5L, NACE MR0175/ISO 15156, ASME BPVC Sections VIII and IX, ASME B31, and FFS-1/API 579 Ability and willingness to travel on occasion and work in a variety of environments including refineries, power plants, offshore platforms, and industrial shops. Worldwide travel is possible, so the applicant must be able to obtain a passport without restrictions.
